I had a stripped spark plug in my 56 VW beetle. This product comes with everything you will need to fix the issue with quality parts. I was happy with the price and I would recommend this to anyone !

I received a 2012 Chevy Cruise in my garage with one spark plug totally out of place, this tool was the perfect one for the job, deep way to fix it.

A great alternative to Time Sert.

I'm writing this review to share my thoughts on this kit. There are some reviews saying this kit doesn't work and I want to assure you that the kit DOES work when it is used correctly. There is a review depicting the thread inserts that didn't work, well if you look closely, there's is red RTV silicone or thread locker on them, you are not supposed to use that with this kit. The kit does not come with directions, but if you look it up, you'll find videos on youtube that show you how it works, search youtube for "Sealey VS301 Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit" You'll see it's the exact same kit.I did this repair on my 2010 Toyota Yaris and it worked perfectly. Be sure to use grease on your taps so that metal shavings are caught (I did this with the head on). When you are tapping, make a few turns then back out the tap to clean it. Take your time and it will work.The reason that I am giving this 4 stars and not 5, is the quality of the kit itself. Now if you're looking for this kit, you've probably seen the kits that cost twice as much as this one. If you're buying this kit, you should consider it a one time use kit and not a tool that you'll have around the shop for years. The kit arrived and had some red over spray paint on almost every piece in it. The paint didn't impact the functionality but it's clear that this kit is cheaper that kits like Time-sert.So this kit isn't the greatest quality, but it did save me a lot of money and my car is back on the road. Again, this kit does work, just take your time and be patient every step of the way and your car will be back on the road in no time!

Ordered this tool after reading reviewsReceived the tool on a Saturday July 27 2024) and took it out of the box to use it.The tool kit was wrapped in plastic which I discarded. Went to do the first step and noted the tap would not fit in. I tried the second tap which slid in easily. Noted a big difference between the two taps. The first one had sharp squared corners while the other had rounded corners on the end that slipped into the tool. I also noted that the first tap had remnants of aluminum and oil on it and in the threads. Obviously, it’s been used before and doubt that the non fitting tap was originally with this kit.I used a tap of my own that was the correct size to perform the first step.I next moved to step 2 and that worked well.I went to install the insert and found that there was only one bag of inserts and they were too short so a long one is on order.It looks like the next step should work but be aware of the following:Check to make sure yours is not a return like mine is.Make sure all the taps fit.Ensure the correct inserts are includedI’m sure that someone used this one and then returned it and it was repackaged.

I would like to start out by saying I gave it 3 stars for the following reasons, 1st- No Instructions, 2nd, iffy inserts, lacking 1 tool.I say it is lacking 1 tool because you are supposed to expand the insert after installing.This is not the first head I have repaired, I was the fortunate owner of an F150 that threw a plug, this head came off of a Toro, that I purchased recently, the previous owned stripped the threads.They say you do not need to remove the head, but I remember spending quite a bit of time removing the shavings from the ford. Which brings me to the #2 complaint, iffy inserts, if I were going to put these in an automobile, they would be returned as they are too thin, which is where the expansion tool comes in, instead you need to use red loctite to install, I am Leary of that, the motor gets hot, some things will get loose.With the head off you can see the shavings,but what you see is only half, I did not take a picture of the first half of the process, imagine some of that in your engine, hence I now remove the head.
