Golden Airbrush Medium - 32 oz Bottle

I bought this so I could thin my paints and make them more transparent. It works like a charm!!!

The new line of Golden Hi-Flow airbrush paints has a new recipe to make it more versatile with multiple applications like using it as a marker ink pigment, or running it through an airbrush. I used to run the old recipe through my airbrush with little or no issues- until the recipe changed. After the transition, I had so much tip build up and clogging, I finally wavered and purchased the medium. It works fantastically with the paint. The medium can be used to run silky smooth response of colors through your airbrush. The medium is my new essential element of my paint configuration.

This is better than water to thin acrylic paints. That's because the solution carries lots of acrylic particles, so that their level of concentration in the final solution is maintained. Water, paint, liquidity enhancers [like Flotrol], do NOT have acrylic particles. and thus weaken the bond to the base. There have been many stories of acrylic painting chipping, or cracking, or just peeling up off the base. Most often this pulling apart is due to the failure of acrylic particles to lock into the base or each other. I have no objection to paint being thinned, but if it is going to destroy my project later, THAT I don't like. SO I thin my acrylics with more of this and no water. Glue can stay, so can liquidity enhancers, but if it needs more thinning I want there to be plenty of acrylic particles in that thinned paint. Properly thinned, this stuff flows well through the airbrush, and seems to behave as it should.

It works wonderfully for thinning the Golden fluid and heavy body paints for airbrushing and suspends/spreads the paint far more evenly than thinning with water. I paint tiny model horses and it was a game changer for getting smooth, glowing blends of color on super smooth surfaces. Think buttery blends.Surprisingly, I also like using this to hand paint acrylics on those same models. Putting down a layer of extended before the paint goes on makes for much easier and effective wet-blending.I’ve also switched from water to this as a means of thinning acrylics for hand-painting, as I find it has a little bit of a self-leveling effect as it cures, helping to eliminate fine brush strokes.

Never disappointed with my Golden product puchases.

I use this to thin my heavy body acrylic paint instead of water for a better bond. Wish it came in an easier to pour container as I have to use a funnel to pour it without spilling it everywhere. Great product but please put a spout on the lid.

This Airbrush medium from Golden is great for thinning paints for airbrush use or even just to get a more fluid paint.

The product served ny needs but is extremely troublesome to pour into a smaller bottle/container. A squeeze bottle cap would be the solution.
