LOVE LOVE LOVE
My bathroom is vintage from the 50s, so lots and lots of tile. Someone decided that a towel bar was a grab bar and pulled it out of the tile. The bar was not on the tile, but built in and the tile was fit around it. So there was lots of plaster damage. I bought this to clean out the damage - which was significant - and would not have been easy to do without this type of tool. I was also fortunate to find the ceramic towel holder to replace the original one on Amazon.... I couldn't find that towel bar any place else (so this is sort of a double review). ~~~~ Not only was this tool perfect for the repair, I can see where I can use it for a number of other things in the future. It has lots of bits and pieces and comes in a convenient case to keep it all together. ~~~ I've since used it to distress lots of my blue jeans also. I'm sure there are lots of other unusual uses for it, but it was definitely a good purchase.

Bargain.
This is an amazing kit! It comes with sooo many attachments...all in a nice and neat storage box...an absolute bargain for what you get. I've only used it 10 or so times...but no operation issues yet.

Good product.
It’s a good product. Been using for a year now and the only issue I have is that it gets really really hot in the summer with long use. I’m talking using it for a hour straight sanding or grinding. The extension is super cool and helpful. I’ve been able to use it drilling out a hole next to a steering wheel column. It fits normal rotary tool sizes. Compared to the harbor freight one this thing has a greater speed to it but make sure to keep the manual to know what speeds to use.

The Handstar Rotary Tool Is Far Better Than Expected
The tool defaults to the lowest speed on each startup. This can be good or bad depending on the owner's memory. Only the bare tool fits into the nicely included case so after each use the accessory must be detached for storage. The Handstar is noisier - by 2 decibels or so. No problem for me and most owners would never notice it.Its output power is nearly that of the original rotary tool from which it is derived - and at less than ½ the OEMs price. It is indeed a quality tool! However, one must choose the correct power setting for the job or it will bog down - it will quickly become 2nd nature to see the job, then set the power. The only accessory I've used to date has been the mandrel that holds the cutting disc. The screw stripped from the cast metal on first tightening. Not at all unexpected for this good price so I just got the original billet mandrel and am using it. They are available here on Amazon for < $3. Buy a few.Really glad I bought this well made, well designed tool.

It's a solid tool. Not the prettiest thing, but it takes a beating
I have to get excess grout off of ~75 sq ft of natural-stone tile that the "tile pros" lathered on like peanut-butter before figuring out they couldn't then get the excess off. It is a 5-day job of grinding/dremelling with small wire brushes. I have/had an official Dremel, and it quit after about 5 sf. The bearings got wobbly, and then the motor burnt out. This unit is now on the last 3 sf of the job, almost done, and it is still going solid like it's fresh from the packaging. I didn't have very high hopes, I thought I was buying a harbor-freight use-once-and-done tool, and this thing has shown itself to be way superior.Sure, the button to hold the spindle while you swap brushes is a little small, the speed-control buttons are a little light on the touch, but that stuff is window-dressing. The core of this unit is super-solid, even when stinking hot (literally) it still keeps running fine, it's a trooper. No wobble on the spindle, nice size and not super-heavy, this is one tool I do not mind recommending.

Useful for what I needed it for
I needed this to work on iron/steel motorcycle tanks. I appreciated the extra accessoriess and the case it came with. So far everything works great and is what I needed. No real issues. The device itself is a tad thick so if you need this to get into tight spaces, you might consider getting a thinner (likely less power though) model. I left a pic so you can see what it looks like when you receive. I also put a black marker in the pic for scale.

On its second use this thing tried to kill me.
There's a plastic collar up top that can be removed to add other attachments. It being mostly black helps the illusion that the tool's housing is all one piece, and I'd definitely forgotten it was removable when I found my way back to this thing for a second project.Well, it *is* removable as it just twists into place, and the tool decided it wanted to remind me of this at some 20,000 RPM. Mid-cut this collar unscrewed itself, bounced around on the mandrel and then started spinning along with it. The sudden lack of balance in the rotating mass caused it to shake violently, and I only partially panicked and found the power button after a second seconds. I'm lucky the cutting wheel didn't shatter and let it the collar loose because it would've gone careening around the room at 200 MPH.Shouldn't this collar click or snap or otherwise lock into place instead of simply twisting on? Vibrations tend to jostle threaded hardware loose; that's why Loctite exists for screws. That's obviously not a solution here, so no locking mechanism feels like a design flaw.
