Very Helpful!
Great! I have some old windows that are broken and need to be replaced but my slumlord won’t. So I got these and it makes a huge difference! My AC is no longer blowing right out the window. Perfect product. Highly recommend!

Effective insulation for old windows, adhesion tape needs improvement
We bought a 1922 Craftsman home a couple of years ago and after the first winter replaced all of the old aluminum windows that a previous owner put in with vinyl, but during our second winter found that didn't help in the living area where there are 3 very large original picture windows (which we don't want to replace as they add to the charm and resale value of the home). So this winter I decided to insulate the interior of the picture windows with this film from Frost King. I bought the largest size possible and really struggled with the first window (took about 2 hours to fully install) but by the time I got to the third, I had it down and was able to complete it in about 30 minutes. Overall it's a good product, but I continually had problems with the adhesion tape -- it just doesn't stick well to the wooden frame particularly if you're using any sort of glossy paint. I had to reapply and/or reinforce in multiple areas. For this reason it gets 4 stars and not 5.Some strategies I used for the larger windows that I learned:1. Make sure the window frame that you're putting the tape on is clean and dry with no chemical or soap residue.2. Put the strip at the top of the window on first and let it set for 10-15 minutes before peeling the backing off, this helps with adhesion to the frame.3. Peel the backing off of the strip at the top of the window and place the film firmly and tautly there before peeling the backing off of the adhesion strips on the rest of the frame. This will help prevent the film from inadvertently sticking to the tape around the window causing you to have to pull it up and either ripping the film or removing the tape.4. If you have a big picture window with divider lights (like I do) consider placing adhesion strips on the divider light frames as well, this will help get a tighter fit.5. Once the top of the film is in place, peel the backing off the sides. I did a little bit on each side of the window and slowly went down each side pulling the film into place to ensure the tightest fit. The key is to make sure the film is as taut as possible before you apply the heat at the end.6. Finish with the strip on the bottom - peel that backing off last and place the film onto the tape.7. Apply heat starting at the top and working your way down then across. At least that worked best for me.Note that in the past I've used similar products and had problems removing the tape from the window after the season is over, resulting in having to repaint the window frames. I will be updating this review at the end of the season to report on my experience with removing the product. Since the tape was so difficult to adhere to the windows to install, I am hopeful that it will be easy to remove.

Takes Patience & Planning
There's a learning curve to doing this if it's your first time like it was for me. I didn't understand that I had to open the plastic all the way --it's double folded and I didn't realize. Also when putting the tape on the window and the frame you need to press super hard or it won't stick and will peel away when you start to remove the wrapper. I found that using shorter lengths worked better. And I cut the large plastic down into shorter pieces to deal with. I used some of the tape to stick one piece to the other once the first one was finished on the window. Worked just fine and already cut the draft in my apartment.

The window film is is great and really works, but...
**Update 2014** I purchased this kit again and the tape this year was a huge improvement from one included in the kits I purchased last year. The tape grabbed on to the film without issue and was easy to tear by hand, which made installation much smoother.I live in a corner unit loft apartment with twelve 7ft tall windows. This is my first year in such a space and I soon came to realize that my windows, although double pane, are no match for the extreme cold winter days; especially because they are so large. Desperate to find a solution to cut down the draft, I decided to give this product a try. I must say that installed, it makes a huge difference! The downside of this particular brand is that the included tape is utter crap. Once the tape is applied, you cut the film and stick it to the tape. The problem is that the tape doesn't do a good job of holding the film in place while you are trying to position it. Only until you hit it with the hair dryer does the film stick. This makes putting up the film a major hassle. Because this particular kit is made for a patio door, I knew I would run out of tape. So I purchased this stuff:(http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Permanent-Double-Inches-3-Pack/dp/B0035LXTYU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390698447&sr=8-1&keywords=double+sided+scotch+tape)to supplement the additional framework of the windows as my local hardware store was out of stock on the Frost King brand double sided tape. After doing a few windows, I quickly learned that the 3M tape was leaps and bounds easier to work with. This is how double sided tape should work! Once I started using the Scotch brand tape, putting up the film went by much quicker and easier. Granted the Scotch brand dst I purchased is labeled as "permanent", but I have aluminum framed windows so it should not be difficult to remove come spring.Next year, I will try the 3M brand window kit. However I can truly say that once installed, this type of window film really helps!

Works well!
Had no prior experience with this and just needed some of these because almost every window in our new house has a broken seal and it’s below freezing.I procrastinated for 3weeks with this item in hand but when I finally put it on the results were instant.Seller sold at the best price, shipped at a great rate and all was good. My only complaint with my order is that I received it in a Home Depot.com shipping box and shipping label and there wasn’t a hint that this item was ordered on Amazon. That’s shady practice but it’s not my problem to sort out :)

Easy way to insulate your house during freezing temperatures
Saved my house during a frigid winter week. If you look at the photo, it looks like the cold is trying to into “enter” my living room (3 windows). My home easily stayed 68 degrees inside while the outside was 10 degrees and below.Best way to apply, work the tape and film top down, sides, bottom.
