I had 2 cars with potential costly repairs pending and figured I’d justify the cost of this tool by saving the auto shop visit on both cars. First was cooling fan on my truck (viscoelectric) and by monitoring engine rpm and fan speed simultaneously in a graph, determined that the fan was stuck on. Further analysis revealed that it was simply a worn wire and I didn’t even need a new fan clutch. Part was >$200 and labor would have been ~$300. The diagnosis done with this tool let me efficiently pursue a wiring check before giving in to the urge to buy the part and install it myself. End result was saved over half of the cost of the tool on my first repair. Second repair was EGR valve on another truck. Bi-directional function allowed me to monitor the position of the EGR valve while manually commanding it to specific positions with the tool. Bad correlation between these two series of values quickly let me perform minimal circuit checks (hoping for bad wire again) and determine, with confidence, that the EGR valve was in need of replacement. Saved big on this job and didn’t have to guess my way through it or install the part only to find that it was a wiring issue. Tool has already paid for itself and I’ve only owned it for a week. Plus-compared to my dated code scanner, that only read codes, and not all codes. — the TOPDON Phoenix is screaming fast. Not that I’m asking for car problems, but I can’t wait until another O2 sensor acts up on one of my vehicles or one of my kids’ cars. I’ll be able to track it down quickly and save them some $’s too.

I purchased a scanner based on reviews from mechanics on YouTube that I respect.The scanner lived up to all my expectations and I’m not a professional mechanic but on family and friends cars as well as my own it’s worked flawlessly. I believe I used it on about 10 cars so far.

Compared to the Autel MaxicCOM MK808Z-BT this scanner is much slower at double the price. The screen is heavier to appear to be more expensive. I haven’t explored everything this tool has to offer but based upon initial use this scanner works much, much slower than the Autel. I DEFINITELY feel this scanner is way overpriced. It offers more graphing options but I already wanted to box the scanner up from the speed experience itself!!!

I really like the Phoenix Plus. It does everything I need it to and for a very reasonable price. Navigating through the menu takes a little getting use to but the tool does a lot. It's able to read live data and preform actuation test, its prettyquickand accurate. It also does coding, and immobilizer systems. Really like how it saves vehicle information, pictures, screen recording, screen shots and data stream recording in the system for future reference. Customer service is extremely helpful if there's any questions about the tool and actually reaches out to make sure your satisfied with the product and will answer any questions you have. I'm extremely satisfied with this product and highly recommend this scan tool to anyone looking for an advanced diagnostic tool that won't break the bank. Great tool for a great price. Looking forward to more products from topdon in the future!

I work on cars and this was a purchase around Christmas time so I got a nice discount. It works very well and is my go to machine for diagnosis. Overall a good purchase

The topology is great I fell in love with that style when I worked for Chrysler but it only works on certain makes and year models I guess not on 09 nissan. I feel for the price it should be able to figure out certain modules and not ask me which radio it has or if it has led or hid headlights but only used a couple times so far and seems to work pretty well. Some options are little confusing when looking for data I do love the health report.

Compared to my X431 and modi’s this unit is heavy! Interface is easy and straight forward if you’re familiar with scanners. Love the wireless obd connectivity. Came with a basic battery tester which is a plus even though I haven’t tested it out yet. Overall I’m extremely impressed with its functionality and the topology is 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 haven’t used the tech support but it’s good to know they offer programming support and as long as you keep updates current the tool will always be under warranty! That itself is a plus compared to snappy😞
