Q: Difference between wifi extender and network extender?

A Wi-Fi extender is a unit that essentially amplifies your Wi-Fi signal - place it where you have a weak signal and it will boost your Wi-Fi. A network extender gives you the ability to extend your wired network. You have 2 units plugged into the mains; one near to and connected to the router, the other somewhere else in the building. The units are paired and you then plug a LAN cable into the second unit. Essentially you are using the house mains circuit as a LAN. I hope this helps

Q: Can I buy individual extender plugs to add?

Yes, I have some as rj45 ethernet splitters on my home network for extra sockets , for my more portable devices as well as the statics desktops and peripherals on my home network.
