Very practical and useful information
I love this book although I have only read the first chapter in the hard copy. I've completed listening to the audible book I'm going to go through the hard copy now. The information is very practical and useful and the language very friendly and although it is not I am not in the USA I can really relate to the information here for my country, Jamaica. Although the money is very important I am glad he also dealt with other aspects of retirement.

Pretty good book, some weird examples
Overall, if oy'ure looking to start retirement planning, or are about to retie & want to know strategies to best handle your money, this is a pretty good book. Most of the examples of limits, etc are from 2020 (IRS limits on 401K contributions, etc), which is understandable as the book was published in 2021, but an update to use more recent numbers would make the book seem more up to date.Another thing that was a bit odd to me were the examples the author selected. Here's one from the authors explanation of compound interest. The example is to invest $240 up front, then add $50 a month for 5 years, and you earn $576 in interest. While the example is 100% correct, it seems needlessly complex and not super persuasive. Why not keep all of the contributions the same to make it easier to understand for people new to investing, and extend out the timeline so that it's a more impressive amount of interest. After all, the real benefits of compounding show up over longer time frames. This is just one example, but it seems very similar throughout the book.Aside from that issue the book is pretty good. What I like about it is it touches on planning for retirement (which a lot of books do) but also Transitioning to Retirement and Life after Retirement. You can obviously read about all of those topics, but this is a good overview of all three and would be valuable to anyone just starting out their planning to not just plan, but also get a preview of that to think about when the time to retire comes.

Retirement Planning Broken Down
I love the QuickStart Guides because they break things down into digestible parts. I have not gotten to read through this entire guide just yet, will update more if it is possible once I do, but I specifically zeroed in on the estate planning parts. The information provided was very basic and straight to the point about the functionality of different types of wills, trusts, having a power of attorney, medical directives and how you would like your remains handled. These are things that a lot of people do not think about while living and it often causes issues in death. I also love that this guide offers downloadable content to help you with figuring out what your end of life plans will be. Throughout the book there are also other downloadable items that the book directs you too after learning about the content from the particular chapter. This is very helpful for reading and following along.

Retirement Planning QuickStart Guide a Practical Approach to a Complex Subject
This complete guide to planning for retirement stands out because it takes a clear, useful approach to a complicated subject. Author Ted D. Snow uses his many years of experience as a CFP professional and adjunct management professor to write an easy-to-understand and interesting book about planning for retirement. A goal that benefits all of us in our own retirement journeys. The best thing about the book is that it breaks down planning for retirement into three easy-to-understand steps: designing your retirement, transitioning into retirement, and life after retirement. Snow talks about all the important substeps and topics, from basic retirement accounts and investment strategies to insurance and estate planning. The discussion is easy to understand for readers at any point in their retirement journey. The best thing about this guide is that it looks at retirement from every logical angle. Snow stresses how important it is to find purpose, stay healthy, and do useful things in retirement, in addition to just thinking about money. His personal stories and examples from real life help make the material more understandable and help illustrate important ideas. The book also does a great job of talking about current issues related to retirement, such as cyber threats, planning for health care, and changing Social Security issues. The useful tips and useful tools, like workbooks, guides and calculators that can be found in digital assets, make it easy for readers to put the strategies we talk about into action.Snow's clear explanation of the power of compound interest and his focus on starting to plan for retirement early make this an important book to read for both young professionals but also for those who are getting close to retirement. His "five uses of money" framework is a great way for people of all ages to understand the order to use money so that one can make smart financial planning decisions. In other words, learn to prioritize your money so that you "manage your money and don't let it manage you."This guide is written with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) authority in the topic but without making things too complex for all of us to understand. It can be used as an introduction for people who are just starting to plan for retirement or as a useful reference for people who are further along the process. Highly suggested for anyone who wants to plan a safe and happy retirement but doesn't know how to approach the practical application of planning for retirement.- BB, Tampa, FL.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
