EXCELLENT PRODUCT
I bought these in 2019 for an Italian dessert. Froze what I didn't use.Found them when I was making bourbon fruitcake - still good, and made my fruitcakes exquisite!

Tastes like orange candy & not expired
I'm always hesitant to buy perishables through Amazon, especially when the purchase doesn't fall w/in a Prime delivery window... one never knows if the item is fresh or about to expire. I took a chance based on other reviews, people seemed pleased with this product. I was hosting a dinner party and was running short on time to make my own candied orange peels for Italian Margaritas. These arrived w/in an extended delivery window, but still on time, and were still fresh. The shipping box also wasn't crushed, which is a shout-out not to UPS, but to the actual small business and employee who packed it correctly- thank you!! Overall, I'll buy again, especially since my next dinner party commands traditional Margaritas with candied lemon peel! Really happy with OliveNation!

Gooey, but adding sugar fixes it.
As delivered, this peel is really gooey and messy to pick up and eat as a snack. That's why it loses a star for me. It might have lost more stars if the problem couldn't be solved, but here's a relatively easy fix:Remove the peel from its container, leaving as much of the syrup behind as possible. Put the peel into a large plastic bag with about a half cup of granulated sugar and toss it thoroughly to coat the peel with the sugar. Empty the bag onto a cookie sheet or similar and let the coated peel air dry for a day or so. Wash and completely dry the original container before putting the dried coated peel back into it. Don't bother to put the lid on tight, it will only get in your way when you reach in to enjoy the now easy-to-handle peel snack. Even with the added sugar, it still has a pleasant balance of sour and sweet; not overly sweet. (To increase your enjoyment, think of it as a natural snack, not candy, and try to eat only one or two pieces of peel at a time. lol)

Excellent for baking or imbibing
This is just sweet enough and chewy enough for a cocktail garnish or for baking or decorating. And delicious. Great lemony flavor

A repackaged product without same allergen safety standards--seller should properly label!!!
I bought these after extensive research to find a source of good candied orange peels that are gluten free to make something for a friend with celiac disease. I thought I had hit the jackpot when I found that OliveNation products are advertised (on the OliveNation website) as being gluten free, egg free, and nut free. So I bought this on Amazon from a seller that even links to the OliveNation store. Thus I was shocked when I received the item that it was "Repackaged in a facility that also handle..." THAT IS A QUOTE! The product was repackaged, clearly with different food safety standards for people with allergens, but they didn't bother to put that information about the repackaging on the web site OR EVEN TO FINISH THE WARNING ON THE LABELED ITEM!Are they aware that some people can be harmed by this? There aren't that many sources to get good orange peels, especially made in Europe and made, per the manufacturer, to be free of so many allergens especially gluten. It's either negligent or deceptive for the seller to sell something repackaged from the original product that changes this basic food safety condition relative to allergens and NOT SAY SO CLEARLY ON THE SALE PAGE OR PACKAGE.Now I have to start this search all over again, and can't make the gift I was going to make for my friend this weekend. I even paid more for this item than getting it from OliveNation directly, although now I'm afraid to buy anything from them lest I get something repackaged without being told explicitly on the sale page. This last point is quibbling given the food safety issues, but the lable also says "Candied Orange Slices" when these are candied orange peels. OliveNation does sell dried candied orange slices, but they are a different product that looks completely different. So this product isn't even properly labeled for what it is, too. That alone wouldn't have prompted my complaint, but it's just irresponsible to sell a repackaged product that differs in such important ways from the original without explicitly describing that on both the selling page and the product label.

If You "Orange" Sure Yet, Read this Review
I bought these to put in biscotti and brownies. They are exactly what I need. In the past, I've purchased swankier, more expensive candied orange peel, and it's beautifully, perfectly soft and delectable and came from Italy on the wings of a now extinct bird or whatever it was my friend told me when she said that's what I needed. It wasn't. The expensive stuff is wonderful when the candied orange peel is standing alone with a dip of dark chocolate and needs to be extra fancy or as garnish for the top of a special occasion cake, but for regular weekend baking, like the biscotti in the photograph, this is what you need. A pan of brownies becomes something special with a big handful of these chopped to bits and thrown into the batter. Scatter some dark chocolate chips across the top for a real treat. This Christmas, I plan to make classic fruitcake for our family's socially distant gathering this Christmas, and this orange peel will absolutely be in it.I only gave one star for "Giftable" because most folks aren't as enthusiastic about baking products as I can be.

So much pith!!
It’s about twice the size or larger on some pieces as the zest. There’s a white waxy substance coating all over it. I’m not exactly sure what happened to my batch but it’s not good 😔
