My Favorite Brand
I bought 2 of these drives, but don't have a lot to say about them since they are not yet in use. Both worked when received, but all I did was format one NTFS and the other FAT. Then I checked to see that they were visible through a USB converter, and that was it. I'm keeping them handy for future needs.Of the conventional electro-mechanical hard drives, Western Digital is the only brand I will buy when I have the choice. I'm not a gamer or envelope-pusher when it comes to my PC usage, but more of a hobbyist and general-purpose builder and user - for A/V, music editing, CD burning, household use, stuff like that. However, going back to my first PC experiences in 1995 (with a Packard-Bell, no less) WD is the only brand that I've used that hasn't had at least one failure. So - until I start having trouble with WD drives, it's kind of hard to try anything else. These were manufactured in February of 2021, and yes, they are very quiet.

This WD Blue 500GB Desktop Hard Disk Drive's work great!
I bought this WD Blue 500GB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache 3.5 to add hard drive space to my Windows Vista P.C. That's right, WINDOWS Vista! It has worked perfectly right out of the box! I installed it, formatted it and it's working great!. I have trusted Western Digital hard drives for years now and would highly recommend any of their products. They install easily and work perfectly.

New Old Stock But Functioning Fine
This Hard Drive was manufactured SEVEN YEARS ago (March 2017) so any warranty from Western Digital has long since EXPIRED. The seller is providing a ONE YEAR warranty and I have no doubt that the drive will last far beyond that date.I used this drive to upgrade from a 320gb 16mb Cache drive and the increased performance is noticeable.

Overall amazing but how to set it up
So this product is amazing, but if you dont know what you are doing then i recommend searching how to format a new harddrive. as this comes with 0 documentation(not the sellers fault WD does this) but overall this is amazing and i recommend getting this. Ive had it for a few days and have my games and projects it also came in great condition. I HIGHLY recommend

Good price however it is showing an error within 3 weeks of use
The price and the delivery for this HDD are great. I installed the HDD and reinstalled the OS three weeks ago and the system was operating well. I ran a HDDScan on the drive this morning and the report shows a warning for Num 199 UltraDMA CRC Errors. I was not expecting to find any errors after 3 weeks. I should have checked the HDD when it arrived.

Works fine
Needed this for an older Dell XPS9100 desktop we use for general purposes. Cloned old one onto this and away we go

Worked. Poor packing.
These are replacements for old drives. The previous drives, same type, ran for over ten years 24/7/365 before starting to generate errors. I expect the same from these. The packing was poor. The drives were packed in small padded mailers, then placed in a larger padded mailer. The manufacture dates were 2016 and 2017, so not "new". They were still sealed in their anti-static bags.I'll see how they hold up.

DOA Very dissapointed
I received third Drive about a week ago for a pc build meant for game development, casual gaming, etc; as I finished the build I powered in my pc, and booted into windows through my boot usb drive, to my surprise, the hdd reads as 0mb free, I thought this was odd so I spent 4 hours moving around parts, switching data ports, data cords, power cords, looking through documentation, etc. Finally I went to cmd and detailed the disk only to find that the drive is basically none existent with volume, and in my bios it also shows as 0gb meaning this arrived dead. I am very dissapointed with what I received, what I paid for, what I basically work for, which in the end, was basically and virtually nothing.
