Modification required for install. provider knew about the issue...then no start
I have purchased through PelletHead previously with no issues and probably will again. The outer edge of this fire pot is 1/8" to 3/16" larger than OEM. The fire box baffles will not install due to the oversize and the thermocouple clip will not install correctly either. Due to the little tab on the bottom of the thermocouple clip, either the fire pot must sit incorrectly or the clip has to lean dramatically away from the fire which positions the thermocouple incorrectly. It is a fairly easy fix with a Dremel Tool. Hand filing will take a while. PelletHead/Earth Sense rep knew of the issue and mentioned that other customers had filed the pot down. Rep was not clear as to whether or not they were going to correct the issue. My plan before I called was to modify the fire pot (now I wish I had returned it), I just wanted to see what the company said. Easy return through Amazon was the other option.UPDATE-Referencing other start up complaints; I have to agree. The flame does not progress at the same rate on start up as the OEM fire pot. I noted that it took longer than "normal" to get the 200˚ green light on the very first start and now, two (*three*) mornings in a row, the stove has started but then shutdown due to not reaching the 200˚ requirement. Afternoon restarts, stove a little warm, have worked okay. Thermocouple length is as far over the pot as the ceramic will allow. From my observations it is the flame that is not moving as well as the OEM pot did. Produces considerably more fireflies/sparks from the pot during use than the OEM pot also while using the same pallet of pellets. The firebox is much dirtier with coarser ash than previously.UPDATE...again: The ignitor holder is not welded on in the correct spot, it is 1/8" too high so that the slot in the ignitor holder is offset horizontally from the like slot in the fire pot. This impacts the radiant heat from the ignitor and the airflow to the pellets at the very bottom of the fire pot (I still have the 12yo original fire pot, no misalignment). Attempted restart after making this discovery; a pencil width flame did start never getting much larger. It did manage to generate enough heat to latch the 200˚ sensor so that the auger started dropping pellets however, the flame never propagated enough to latch the 600˚ sensor so the unit shutdown. Returning. Pellethead does offer an "OEM quality" fire pot ($289) as compared to this "top quality" fire pot ($199). More of the same...? Or $551 at Quadrafire or $469 at our nearest stove store.

Better design than the original pot in the stove.
The shutter of the original fire pot would droop down when the screw and nut used as a pivot would loosen.I solved that problem by installing a shoulder screw and nut as pivot and insuring a tight nut against the shoulder of the screw. The replacement pot has a large shoulder washer as the pivot and a screw securing the shoulder washer solidly to the pot.

works OK
Seems to be working fine so far. Only complaint is my insert doesn't always start up like it should now even though I also installed a new ignitor element. But I might have another issue there, not sure yet.

Typical Chinese quality replacement parts
Tip: Buy 2-3 seals because this pot will come in and out 4-5 times before you will get it to work. The bottom door had a 1/16”+ gap allowing embers to escape the pot. Push arm bore had to be re-drilled to remove a burr. Heating probe guard is welded on at a different angle and a stubby Phillips can’t fit in the gap. Diameter of the top of the pot is to larger and interferes with the back flame deflection plates and had to be ground. The 20 year old OEM pot that I was replacing probably still has more value.Review: not impressed, worth $30, not $300

Poorly made
Had to cut out 1 mounting hole to turn fire pot so the the lower cleanout flap would completly close . I still have to reset it to start . Flame won't hit thermcoupler ....

Replacement Quadrafire 1000 Burn Pot
Very happy with this replacement burn pot! Fired it up and works and fits well. Be careful with the gasket as I ripped my trying to keep it in place while setting the pot in.
