You can avoid this by keeping the volume low and sitting closer to hear clearly,,, but I would recommend pairing it with Bluetooth compatible external speaker.It was a little bit confusing to use at first, because my old apple laptop REFUSED to get connected with a software that I had to download. I am now using it with my new Windows laptop without needing to download any software and with Roku. Pretty light and I don't think I ever noticed any loud fan noise while it's running aside from the rattling sound. I did need to get a HDMI cord to connect any device, though there might be another way to get it connected.Overall, it's a pretty good value for the price!
