Survivor filter serves "regular" water use
I was amazed by some of the reviews I had come across (Amazon, YouTube) re the Survivor system and this was after I had picked up a garden variety "filter" for home use at Walmart (which I returned after ordering the Survivor). the Survivor was able to take water that was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to even consider for ANY type use (even bathing) let alone DRINKING and yet it purified the water AND made it taste good at the same time. not exactly the same thing as turning water into wine but this was clearly a close second!I have been using my Survivor (I have both the manual and electric models) for TAP WATER mainly to double clean it (just in case) but also to improve the taste (typical city water) and it works great.compared to buying a Brita or similar home filter that only improves water taste (maybe some filtering as well) the Survivor is overkill in terms of cleaning tap water of pathogens but given the fact that it also acts as a "regular filter" for taste, I think it's well worth the money. Also, if there is ever a situation where I need to get drinking water in an emergency situation, I know that the Survivor can do that, the Brita (etc.) can't.The Survivor is also very compact. it's a great design and I'm a student of good industrial design.I highly recommend this kind of filter over any other "home filter" (except maybe RO units) because it serves double duty -- can improve taste (just like a "regular" home filter) AND it can purify water at any time if you need to do that (including camping out, backpacking, but also travel to other areas where water quality is questionable).I consider the Survivor system to be in a class of its own. a great tool with many advantages.one more thing ...Survivor has had its filter claims verified by an independent lab. it's one thing to claim something but when you have proof to back it up, that helps a lot.this is a tool that not only can make water taste better -- it can save your life.

10/10 recommned
Very impressed with this filter. My husband and boys camp at least once a month and I purchased this filter for a backpacking trip they took with their troop and it worked amazingly. It's a nice compact size, and very easy to use, they easily pumped water into their bladder bags from a creek.

Hand pump filter review from an Eagle Scout
Tested it and It works well I have not used it for hiking or fishing yet so we will see. It is well put together and should work well for the outdoor hobbyist

Great for off grid camping
Going on a wilderness hike and camping? How about some survival practice? This is one thing that you shouldn’t leave behind. Light weight, sturdy and easy to use. Good clean water with no aftertaste. Good for cooking, drinking and cleanup. Well worth it.

One of the best things I ever purchased
I purchased this because I am allergic to a chemical in roughly 90% of the treated water in America. It's fun fun. The filter is small enough to fit in my purse, much lighter, and significantly more eco-friendly than lugging around a billion water bottles daily. It has come in useful during hazardous weather, municipal boil water orders, and camping trips, too.

Great Filter, Easy to Use, Need one more Hand
We had a 7-person backpacking group go on a 2-night, 10-mile trek in Arkansas. Day 1 didn't have any water sources until we finished 6 miles. This pump worked great to refill all our bottles (6+ liters). It went pretty quick and we didn't have any issues operating it. The water tasted clean and didn't have any aftertaste (we filled from creeks and the water looked clear and clean to begin with). We chose this one because it specifies 0.01 micron filtering vice some of the others just go down to 0.1 micron. Party members who used it included a 40+ year old man and an 11 year old girl. The outlet hose includes a little clip that's supposed to keep the hose in the container, but it didn't hook on to our Nalgenes or Smartwater liter bottles, so it really helped to have one person hold the outlet hose and while a separate person did all the pumping. This also helped quick transitions and fills for all our bottles. We also lost the little clip when one of the more enthusiastic youth swung the hose around to dry it out and it flew off the hose...so now it's a two-person job regardless.
