very good unit, well built and cheap, only one minor problem
this was the cheapest extractor that I could find, but I must say that it works perfectly, that is once you remove the stupid metal grid in the intake port on the blower fan, I originally set it up and it initially worked great right from the word go, however, when using a planner thicknesser with wood chippings rather than saw dust it clogged up every 30 seconds, the metal grid that is installed in the fan intake catches the wood chips and soon clogs the intake killing all suction, removal of this part soon cured the problem, it was however very hard to get out as a really tight fit so not really meant to come out, I would guess they fit it to stop large objects entering the fan blades but to be honest, as long as you are only using this for its intended purpose I cant see it being a problem. Noise level is quite high but then again not as noisy as my planner and saw bench so not a problem at all. It has exactly the same motor and design as the far more expensive ones so I would recommend this one compared to the ones twice the price, delivery was literally next day so cant fault this addition to my workshop.

Good for small workshop
Product arrived in a good box. Assembly was not easy as no instructions. Had to go by the photos on the internet to build.I had to remove the baffles on both sides of the motors as it just clogs up. especially when using planer thickness machine.Once removed works well.I also use tape to hold the bag in place when installing the band. This was a great tip.Far less noisy than my previous unit.

Powerful
This is my 1st dust collector so I can't compare it to any other models. I have been looking to getting one for a while and when I came across this at the price and reviews I gave it a go and I'm not disappointed. It is loud but it does a great job and for the price I'm chuffed.

This machine is so loud we have to wear ear defenders.
The machine claims to be 68db which is untrue. It is more like 85db and will damage anyones hearing if shood within 3 metres. We have to wear ear defenders.

A usefull tool
I have found this vacuum very usefull a little awkward to move around but with a littleduct tape and a old vacuum hose works well with most tools. And on my lathe I use the square end and a cable tie to old it in place and when sanding it can be slid along very good at catching all the dust. Overall very pleased.

Good, with one modification…
This works fine, but there’s one modification in my mind that needs to be done before using. There’s a stupid metal grill on the intake to the fan, that if not removed just clogs in a matter of seconds. There’s also another stupid plastic grill on the inside of the hose outlet, that does the same. They are obviously there to stop large pieces of wood being sucked into the fan(around 1”square).Would pieces of timber this size ever get extracted from a workpiece? Why Do you need two stupid grills?Removal of these grills is essential if you are using it for a planer thickneser, or any removal of larger amounts of material, otherwise it’s guaranteed to clog.Bit of a ballache removing these bits, but works fine afterwards. For the price it’s a minor inconvenience easily solved, but you need to be aware otherwise it’s pretty useless.

Fabulous upgrade
Very impressed with this, as an upgrade to a well used record power extractor there is a marked difference. I have connected it to a plastic barrel for the main chip collection and the result is noticeable.Noise wise it is much quieter that the previous equipment, I did see a number of reviews mention the noise level but it is not overly loud. The instructions are a bit thin on the ground but it took about 25 minutes to put together out of the box. I would advise to check the supplied band lengths to make sure you have the correct one for the filter before you thread it through the collar, I didn’t and had to remove carefully so as I didn’t damage the material.I used some masking tape to keep the dust collection bag in place whilst I installed the collar, it saved some headaches. This should be much more efficient in use when planing down boards and reduce the need to clean out the planer due to a build up of chips.Edit: I had the opportunity to thickness a number of Oak boards around 250-300mm in width, it worked perfectly.
