If you want to breathe new life into an ageing desktop or laptop (that uses the SATA interface), this is a great way to do it - especially if you have the facility to also include a slower traditional spinning-disk hard drive for the heavy lifting of data storage of at least 1TB (4TB and above are becoming both more common and cheaper).Simply put the Windows OS onto the SSD along with your other programs (Office for example) and configure your pc to use the larger hard disk as purely a data drive.You can (if running Windows 10 for example) simply do a 'clean install' and providing your previous Windows 10 installation was legitimate, Microsoft will authorise the new drive with your digital license that they have on their servers. You *may* need your old Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 license key (unlikely) and you *may* need to ring Microsoft to get an installation ID (rather unlikely) but it should be relatively painless.You would then have the benefit of lightning-fast boot up, shut down and program launch times (e.g. sub 25 sec to boot to Windows and around 10 sec to shut down) together with a huge amount of storage provided you can install a second data drive.True, you can buy large SSDs (Samsung sell a 2TB SSD for around a couple of hundred pounds) but for under £25, this 240Gb Integral SSD is all that you really need for Windows and programs.I've marked the 'Longevity' as 4 stars - simply because I have no real experience with SSDs and so don't know anything about their long-term reliability.One thing to note that currently, for about 50% extra and under £40, you can double the storage capacity to 480Gb. Personally (as my data is on a 5TB HDD), 240Gb is more than enough in my experience.

I bought this along with some RAM to do fresh install and upgrade of an old laptop. Hard drive has worked perfectly since the install and has sped things up way more than expected. My laptop used to take two and a half minutes to boot up properly, now, 7 seconds!

I had a very old dell laptop which was getting very slow so got this ssd and it's pretty much better now. Storage of 128gb is not much but it's work though

This review is for the 120GB V2 2.5 Inch SATA variant on this product page. I bought this to revive a friend's laptop which had a painfully slow 5400RPM HDD which took 5 minutes to start, even with a clean Windows install. It was pretty much e-waste waiting to be thrown out sadly, so needed a small investment to give it some new life.Delighted to report that this drive did the trick, making it startup within 10 seconds and wake from sleep in under 2 seconds. I can't speak for the longevity of the drive (as this is a cheap drive, reliability is the first area to be compromised on) but will update this review later if any issues come to light later on.At time of purchase, this was the cheapest SSD you could buy new on Amazon, at only £12 - you'll be hard pressed to find anything cheaper - you could go second hand, but those will be a mixed bag with almost certainly no warranty backing it up.My main piece of advice if buying this, would be to a) acknowledge it's a cheap drive, so don't expect much, and b) backup any important data on this drive elsewhere so you won't be upset if/when it does die on you.Otherwise, so long as you're aware of the likely drawbacks of going so cheap for a piece of computer hardware, you really can't go too far wrong spending just over a tenner on this drive. It'll bring life back to otherwise barely usable computers, saving them from being scrapped for at least a little while longer.
