Weems & Plath Marine Navigation Primary Navigation Set

This is a great set of instruments to navigate coastal waters by plotting courses and estimating speeds, times and distances. In addition to these tools, however, you need up-to-date paper charts, a compass on your boat and a hand-held bearing compass (Plasmo makes a good, affordable one) for taking fixes and establishing lines of position. Combine all that with a simple GPS system and some dead reckoning. Then you're all set to figure out how far, how much time and what route to get there without running aground.

The tools are high-quality, well built, and durable. A little pricey, but given overall quality I'm expecting these to last a long time and I'll get quite a bit of use out of them!! Highly recommend!

The set is great, when it arrived I gave 1 star as missing item dividers were not in the set. The seller reached out to me, great support and didn't package the item so was unaware of the missing item. They reached out and made the set whole and took care of the whole deal. I am updating my review to 5 stars as it is an excellent set for the price and a great deal. The 15" parallel rulers, protractor, dividers and case are excellent and will meet my needs plotting in celestial navigation. I am very pleased with the seller and the item, updated to 5 stars.

Received with plastic storage pouch cut open in several places and taped together with clear tape. Components all appear present. Very, very disappointing for such an expensive set!!!Please send me a NEW storage pouch and any papers that should be included. Class already started and it would be another week before a new one arrives or I would definitely return this! Very disappointed!!!

All you need for plating

I used this to pass ASA 104. Good quality, but needed a GPS option as math is hard.

For charting and plotting, the dividers and parallel rulers work well. Very solid.
