A miniature sun worth the price!
I bought a few of these as I was unsure of the quality. Needless to say that the battery life was amazing compared to the older bulb. The amount of light was also a lot better. I did noticed that after probably the initial 15-30mins of use the brightness went down and it was pretty constant for an entire night of varmint hunting. Using this as a quick spot to see a coyote and make the shot lasted 12-4 for 2 nights. With the original bulb I would be able to get maybe an hour of constant use and 3 with burst use. Not to mention the older bulb was not nearly as bright. As for any type of shapes in the light from the led I didn't notice any. I was able to turn on the sun hit a coyote and then go dark very quickly. Definitely helped with the varmint problem out at my dad's house. Now I need to find batteries that will last a bit longer. All things considered you can get an older model and replace the bulb with this led and it will perform with the newer led versions Surefire is selling now. Also shipping was great and I will do business with these guys if my few Leds ever burn out!

Works beautifully in a Surefire P6! BUY IT!
I bought this as a replacement for an old halogen bulb in a Surefire P6 that I got from a friend. A buddy of mine said to expect to spend upwards of $40 on a new LED conversion for the light, but as an Amazon junkie, I looked here first. $10 for a CREE LED claiming 650+ lumens was worth a shot and the numerous fantastic reviews gave me faith it would be worth it.It arrived in the predictable 2-days with PRIME membership and dropped right in the head of the old P6. I found it screwed in, but not all the way, so I removed the large spring as many other reviewers said they had to do. The new LED bulb and housing dropped right in again and the head screwed in all the way. Now, I know many people have dropped a star and sometimes two for their claimed under-performance with the lumen count. I'm not an engineer, nor do I have some crazy awesome techno-wizardry lumen measuring tool. All I can say is that this is crazy bright. CRAZY bright. I always carry a backup light as on-duty on patrol and this will easily find a place on belt or duty bag now. I'm going to try it in an old Surefire G2 I have and if it fits I'll be ordering one for it too. The insane brightness of the LED and VERY extended battery life makes it a no-brainer. I couldn't be more pleased for $10!

Bright lamp, works in some P60 type lights but not others
I have several different lights and although I bought these as a replacement for one light, I tried it on a few similar lights. Here's what I found:Surefire G2 Nitrolon (originally used a P60 incandescent lamp): Direct fit replacement, although I did have to remove the outer spring as others have done. Bezel seated fully on the flashlight body with no gaps.TOP Stryker LX6ZK2: Did not fit, with and without outer spring. Lamp assy created a standoff that wouldn't allow the bezel to even start threading on.Surefire 623FA (replacing a Surefire P60L-WH lamp): This did not fit even without the outer spring. The problem is that the aluminum of the lamp assy is too wide to slide down into the metal flashlight body. The reflector fits into the bezel well, its just barely too wide at the back to fit. Really disappointed since this is the light I needed this replacement bulb for!Brightness seems good, but I don't have a good reference for the oem lamps it is replacing. Will monitor for longevity and heat issues, and update this review as needed.

simply awesome
if you have a surefire, these make it brighter and help the batteries last longer. In order to get it to work with my application I had to remove the spring, after that. this light is bright and works well

Does not replace light in all SureFire lights
Construction was great and light produced a lot more lumen than the standard P60, however the bezel was too Big to fit in to the light that I have and unfortunately was not usable for my P60 light replacement.

Good deal!
I had bought a 6P (incandescent) some years back at a great price, with the intention of buying a Surefire fitting aftermarket 300L output LED bulb assembly - for ~$68 delivered. I opted for a local store's sale priced Surefire P60L ($27) LED bulb assembly, which puts out 80L for 8+ hr vs the incandescent assembly's 55-65L for 50 minutes. I already had a 6P LED that came with the P61 LED assembly, so I ended up with two similar lights - for a while. A neighbor/thief robbed my car one night and relieved me of the converted 6P and my GPS - and some of my sense of security. I wanted to try one of the more powerful LED replacements - and decided on the "650L' supposedly US-made unit which is the subject here.I received my $10 LED assembly in two days (Prime). It was packed in a small, but sealed, poly bag - with no instructions. I removed the outer spring - and unscrewed the 6P LED's head and removed it's P60L. The replacement assembly dropped right in - no 'fitting' required - and it worked perfectly. As the P60L has an outer spring, I elected to try the replacement with it's outer spring in place - and it fit just as well, athough uncompressed, the OAL is greater with the replacement than the original. This additional OAL means that the head won't screw on quite all the way - leaving 5/32 inch gap with the outer spring closing down to ~ 1/32 inch gap measured between the head end's octagon and the body's rounded bevel. As the lamp assembly's tapered end contact's the body's outer (-) sleeve, I would suggest that you would need the additional rotation room for good contact under wear. Machining marks are visible on the heat sinking Al & brass barrels of the replacement assembly. The only printing seen was 'YY12S-01' on the viewable circuit board.Comparing the beam size, spill, and intensity was easiest with the Surefire Fury, which is rated at 500L. I used the already in place used Surefire CR-123A Lithium cells, which paired at 3.12 and 3.14 Volts. The beam size, spill, and intensity were quite similar, with the color being decidedly warmer from the Fury - and cool white from the replacement. The 6P read 7 degrees F warmer than the Fury after 10 minutes of on time (Both laying flat on the desk.) using an infrared thermometer. The hottest point on the 6P with the replacement assembly was the head/body junction, with even the tailcap feeling warm. The body of the 6P was uniform in it's warm feel, meaning that it is part of the heat sink. The replacement was noticeably brighter than the cooler to the touch Fury, indicating to me that the Fury has temperature feedback, which won't allow cooking the LED or the Lithium cells - extending their lifespan in use. As the replacement conveys heat to it's negative sleeve/body, I would only use it in an Aluminum 6P-style light - not a plastic ("Nitrolon").unit. I don't know what the max Lumens are - but the Surefire Fury is rated at 500L - and they look equally bright initially, with the Fury being more warm-toned (yellow) than the cool toned replacement. I feel it is a deal!
