Freestanding Ventless Bio Ethanol Fireplace - Vitrum L Black | Ignis

We bought the Ignis Vitrum L. It's a beautiful black metal L-shaped alcohol fireplace with over-sized glass sides for an elegant look in our living room.It was shipped in very nice foam packaging so nothing was damaged in shipping – something to think about when ordering two large pieces of glass online. The assembly was also very easy, with instructions in typical “semi-English”. Then again you really don't even need instructions as there are few parts and everything goes easily together in a self-evident fashion. The quality of metal fabricating is excellent! This is a piece of “furniture” anyone would be proud to display in any room of your home. We look right through the unit's glass out our windows to view Lake Superior right through the flickering fire. Beautiful!We haven't had enough time to say if you really get five hours of burn time, but from what we've tried so far I could see that happening. We're quite happy with filling the alcohol container with substantially less than a full load, as this amount of fuel lasts for as long as we're content to “sit by the fire”. And let me say the fire is visually satisfying (as well as putting out more heat than I'd imagined). It's not a huge flame, like in an open stone fireplace with a full load of wood, but it is very aesthetically pleasing, with a more substantial flame than one might think. We also have a wood fireplace in another room, and cutting/splitting wood for it is definitely a work-out! This alcohol fire is so, so easy, and for a spur of the moment type of enjoyment.I have one critique I hope the folks at Ignis will consider, and perhaps make available to us previous purchasers. The handy stainless wand for reaching into the “fire-pit” to slide the small stainless metal shield over the open reservoir is simply not angled correctly to fit the slot in that slide. Oh, if you reached down from the top into the very hot fire in a vertical fashion, you might be able to slip the curved hook into the slide's slot... but not before a serious burn! The natural way to reach in to quench a fire is from the side opening... which is NOT the way the metal wand is angled to attach to the slot. I certainly hope Ignis will re-engineer this wand to make it usable, or I'm going to have to craft something on my own to accomplish the job. And that would be a shame as the existing stainless wand looks so nice and well crafted.In all this is a beautiful, as well as a very functional device, and I'd recommend it (and already have) to anyone!

I absolutely love this fireplace and we have been enjoying it nearly every night since we set it up! It is very easy to use, pretty much odorless, and does a great job creating a cozy warm ambiance. It is a beautiful piece when the fire is off as well - good modern and sturdy design.Two things to note:1. The width of the fire is the size of the metal slit in the middle, which is only about 8"; buying a bigger fireplace doesn't necessarily get you a bigger flame. This is fine for us, but if space is an issue - consider getting a smaller one with the same-sized metal insert.2. The damper tool is designed in a very silly manner, with the angle of grip placing your hand directly over the fire when you try to shut it off, and burning your hand. A better damper tool might be something to consider purchasing separately, or, you might want to play with the included one before you start the fire, so you can figure out a way to close it without burning yourself. We managed to figure it out, but it's definitely not the most convenient and not the best design.Overall, we are really enjoying this - best option for a home without a built-in frieplace! Super flexible and pretty, and appears to be safe to use so far.

Revising my review. 4 stars for unclear instructions for Big Dumb Babby's like myself (even though overall assembly is simple). Very nice looking, though not sure how effective as a space heater, if that's something you're looking for

Very easy to assemble, even without a manual. Went from unboxing to burning in about half an hour. You will need a phillips head screwdriver, and common sense.

I just purchased the white one and OMG.. It's a beauty piece of furniture...everyone compliments it when they come in the living room

I love this fireplace and it's design (I have a white version as well). The only reason I'm giving this four stars is because all the screws to put it together wasn't in the packaging. I only received two screws.And how do I contact the seller on Amazon? I clicked on Ignis and it's not obvious. I just need some screws to have this sent to me.

What a nice decor piece !!Everybody was asking about it and everybody enjoyed it , they have never seen an indoor vent-less fireplace.Pros: Flame is wonderful(used two types of fuel ,both have great flame),the design is very modern,clean lookCons: the burner is placed in such a way that you cannot adjust the plate with the provided tool to make the flame smaller,it's oriented in the other dirrection-whoever designed it was probably talented in just drawing ,not functionalityOverall great,just don't use Ignis ethanol,made us sick,instead use ModaFlame,no smell, no sickness
