Recipes for Color Cosmetics (Vol. 1 from the Series: Make Your Own Cosmetics!)

A lot of information here!
I wanted to make my own mineral makeup and this book has been the one I keep going back to. It has information on a lot of ingredients. It even had a chart where you can look at range of percentages the common ingredients would be used in. It won't tell you how to mix your own colors but it will tell you how to make the most different kinds of products. I priced what it would cost to make gel eyeliner, it was $34 in ingredients if I didn't buy the triglycerides that were only offered in a gallon size for $68 as the smallest size. I do hope by the time I'm ready to make that they have a smaller size available for that product. The only bad thing about the book is they act as if you will have two Bunsen-burners and a few beakers on hand for many projects. If I try these projects, they will be made in small pots on a regular stove as I would not be making them for resale. If you are going to make things for yourself, you might want to look into ready made bases you melt color and pour into containers. If you want to do this as a business or in bulk, this is a great book. You'll save tons being able to learn to formulate your own bases yourself.

Pretty awesome!
I love the recipes for lips and the powder cosmetics (powder eyeshadow, foundation and blush) but the cream eyeshadow a left something to be desired. I've tried three different recipes for the cream shadows offered in this book and they all end up hard as rocks...and I work in a lab, so I think I can safely say I understand some chemistry. But other than this, the book is great! The cream blushes are nice as well, but they make me break out. Haven't tried the cream foundations, but I don't wear cream foundation, hence the reason why.The instructions are easy to understand, you don't need to be a chem expert to understand or follow, very straight forward, so this is fool proof...can't explain why me cream eyeshadows were a bust though :(

Recipes for color cosmetics
I do like this book..it has great recipes ...I do not necessarily follow to a t but if you are interested in formulating your own cosmetics this book is very helpful..I probably look at it at least once a day. All the recipes include ingredients from making cosmetics (which is reputable supplier) however you do not need to make special orders if you see what the specific ingredient is & check the INCI name or replace with another ingredient that does the same thing...

Nice.... BUT
I currently use this book as a quick reference book to learn about common ingredients and to read some of the helpful hints the author has thrown in. If you're looking to do simple cosmetic recipes then don't get this book. Many of the recipes require items that can only be bought from this company. Overall, a nice book for anyone looking to make cosmetics that are similar to the products on store shelves.

Lots of information
Haven't made anything from the book yet and it looks like it takes a lot of other products to make lipstick don't know if I'll use it or not.
