I was nervous about buying the shade after so many stated that it didn’t block enough sunlight, but I’m glad I purchased it. I live in the high desert of Oregon and the sun is very intense in the evening since one side of my patio directly faces the west. You can definitely see the sun through it, but it doesn’t bother my eyes and it filters enough light for me. The material is a mesh-like plastic (but you wouldn’t know it until you touch it) which is actually helpful since it is also windy late in the day and the shade allows air flow without pulling it down. It was also very easy to install. While there may be higher end sun shades on the market, I am extremely happy with the quality/price point for this one.

This is a great screen and we love it; however, they show this screen being attached to metal pargola but only supply wood screws. I had to go get sheet metal screws to install. Would of been 5 Star if they had provided both.

I bought two 8 foot shade. There is a plastic pole across the bottom of the shades. One is warped and doesn't hang straight. I probably should have sent it back but after I took the time to hang it, decided to live with it. I like how they filter the sun out but you can still see out thru them.
