Product Description Crumbs is set against the background of spectacular post-apocalyptic Ethiopian landscapes, where the film finds a strange-looking scrap collector, Gagano (played by the charismatic Daniel Tadesse). Alternately gripped by daydreams and constant fears, the diminutive Gagano has had enough of collecting the priceless crumbs of decayed civilization, including the most valuable: merchandise from Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan. When a spaceship that has been hovering high in the sky for years starts showing signs of activity, Gagano has to overcome his fears as well as a witch, Santa Claus and second-generation Nazis to discover things aren't quite the way he thought. Enjoyable.
I have been curious about this movie since I first read about it, and saw a trailer. To me it is an interpretation of traditional fairy tales, where a protagonist seeks "something" and has to go through various troubles to reach the people with the answers and powers. I don't want to give away more than that. It's great to be able to watch this online, and it is also great to find movies like this to get away from the usual Hollywood claptrap.

A Uniquely Original Vision
One of the best films I've seen in 2015 -- and certainly the sweetest -- "Crumbs" somehow manages to weave unique Urbex-inspired photography with a handful of amazingly sincere actors into a completely original romantic sci-fi movie. The films "Crumbs" reminds me of most are "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and "Save the Green Planet," both of which are very unique films that defy comparisons. "Crumbs" doesn't answer all the questions it poses, but it doesn't have to. It's the type of film that works best when you give yourself over to the narrative and let it guide you where it wants you to go.

Great!!!
Candy (Daniel Tadesse, who has worked with director Miguel Llansó on four different projects) is a small man under a large sky that is filled with a hovering spacecraft that surely must be dead as it hovers above. Yet since he was young, he dreamed of being on that ship.Candy knows that the ship is alive again and he’s sick of being a collector of discarded ephemera, like all the late 20th century pop memorabilia he keeps finding. This is a world where a Ninja Turtle toy can be seen as a god, where Michael Jordan is worshipped as a deity.Ethopian science fiction, set inside a pre-apocalypse country that looks like the end times already came, capped with a religious experience while watching the Turkish remake/remix/ripoff film Süpermen Dönüyor. Trust me — that’s all it took to make me adore this.If you think this one is strange, well, get ready. Tadesse and Llansó followed it with Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway, which was recently released by Arrow Video. This movie is on the second disk of that release.Man — who knew that on the other side of the world such astounding movies were being made? I’m excited to see what happens next.

A daring and surprisingly elegant conversation starter on the Afro-futurist movement.
Resplendent in its originality, CRUMBS offer a new take on the dystopian film by placing the apocalypse in contemporary Ethiopia. As it asks us to reposition our view on globalism and American imperialism (the film features zany artefacts such as Michael Jordan posters worshipped at shrines, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures as talisman) it also asks us to ponder the current Africa and its future. What is Afro-futurism, in any case, and what does science fiction hold for the continent and vice versa? Though not a compendium of all things Afro-futurist, CRUMBS (directed by creative powerhouse -and spaniard - Miguel LLanso) is a daring and surprisingly elegant conversation starter on the subject.

Quirky, fun sci-fi film set in a dystopic future
Quirky, fun sci-fi film set in a dystopic future. Filmed all around Ethiopia with spoken Amharic and English subtitles. I can't see how this isn't a cult classic already! Well worth an hour of your time if you like weird low budget sci fi!

Definitely Different
A deformed Ethiopian dwarf leaves his attractive wife in the ruined bowling alley where they live and sets out to find Santa Claus. He can't wait till christmas before he receives his gifts because by then it'll be too late to escape the Earth in the odd-looking spaceship hovering above them. Short (68 minutes) and seriously weird.Be aware that the DVD comes in one of those thin folding cardboard sleeves rather than a plastic case, so if the seller is not too particular about the packaging, then it's likely to arrive crushed out of shape.
