Connect a terminal to a host system via USB
This is the cable you need if you want to connect an old green screen terminal to a Linux host over USB. I got it working on a regular Linux machine (spawn a getty to the port of course) and it also worked great on my Mikrotik hEX router (pictured in photo). The plug is correct for a terminal (DB25 male, mates with the terminal's DB25 female, and the terminal is wired as DTE) and all handshaking pins are wired to the USB chip. This is the information I was looking for when shopping for cables, so I hope someone else benefits from this writeup.

Did not work
No matter what driver I tried, I could not get communication. Read a few reviews, and this is common on these cheap cords

Good null modem cable. Worked great with my Sun machines.
I was interested in this because it is a dedicated null modem cable with DB-25 connector. It is great for using the serial console of old Sun machines. It works great for that purpose.I measured the cable just shy of 70 inches (177.5cm) overall. It has short strain reliefs molded onto the cable. The strain reliefs fit well in the connector housings. The DB-25 end is metal with a solder cup style connector. There is a short loop of wire inside. The d-sub screws stopped a bit short of my other serial adapter cable (9-pin din to db-25), but they did reach on an actual motherboard port.In Linux it appeared as "FT231X USB UART".The USB end contains a circuit board with:FTDI FT231XS (USB Full speed to Full Handshake UART)Zywyn ZT213LEEA (Low Power 5V 250kbps RS232 Transceiver).
