great book
My great-grandparents came to America from Denmark. The older I get, the more interested in the old country I become. This book helped me see it not so much as an old country. Well organized and well written, it was worth the time invested in reading it.

Insightful and Fun To Read
A fun exploration on the Danish Culture. Focus on government and creative services (food, film and architecture). Served as guideline for places to visit as well as TV series to watch. Author strives to present multiple viewpoints in an authentic way. Quick and valuable read for visiting Denmark.

Makes me want to move to Denmark
Excellent overview information, both educational and insightful. Derfinitely a good read for Danish wanna-be's. Impress your Danish friends with being more informed about their country....I guarantee they know more about yours than the other way around. We're so US-centric in this country and really have no idea what may be happening in other countries or how they may have developed over the past 100 years. This book will give you some of the highlights for Denmark and possibly motivate you to learn more.

A Brit looks at Denmark
With an eye to design, art, food, tv and energy the author takes you on a snapshot tour of the culture of Denmark. Written lightly with a folksy tone this is a quick read. One of few English language guides.

The Readable Mr. Kinglsey
If you love all things Scandinavian like I do you will enjoy Mr. Kingsley's take on the Danes. I first found Patrick in the NYT where he had several articles on Moldova and enjoyed his writing style. As a Borgen fan I knew I had to read his book on the Danes who he reveals has lessons for all of us to improve our lives. I also read his The New Odyssey, compelling reading about the immigrant crisis. Compassion, kindness, acceptance would go a long way to help these displaced people and in turn improve our own society. You never know when you might be 'the other'.

Good Read and Insight
Heading to Denmark, this book gave us an insight into the country. Having relatives there that we will meet for the first time, the book also enlightened us of their culture. It is written from view of a Brit, so some parts were hard to relate to as an American. Over all a good read.

Interesting read that gives you a great view into Danish life
Interesting read that gives you a great view into Danish life. I would say it has a bit of a British perspective, but I feel like that makes it even better.

Eye-opening info regarding immigrants
It was an okay read giving an abundance of information on the politics of Denmark, the structure of the welfare system, art and design, furniture manufacturing, and most interestingly, the attitudes towards immigrants, particularly those from middle eastern countries. I think why I only rate it a 4-star is because of the excessive number of names. Names, names, names! Too many!
