V. Good guide
Lovely book, shiny and new.In the book it has a preface for an introduction to hiragana and how to write the symbols. It has the hiragana syllabary (like an alphabet) and then it starts to teach you how the write hiragana, 10 symbols at a time. It teaches you words to write by giving you exercises, making you translate words into Japanese hiragana (giving you the English and symbol hints), into hiragana (giving you English and Romanized Japanese hints) and finally giving you an exercise to write out the Romanized Japanese (giving you hiragana and English hints). Each section for the group gives you some information about the characters and exercises. The book also teaches you how to write words and sentences. The only problem is if you learn better by someone physically teaching you it will take you longer to learn. Otherwise, you're good to go. I also learn Japanese from podcasts and videos which makes the book easier for me to use.If you want to learn how to pronounce the words, I suggest downloading an app that helps you with that as the book doesn't teach you about pronunciation at all.

Excellent Textbook
This book is really, really good. I expected to find it much harder to learn Hiragana but this book takes you through everything step by step. It shows you the whole table at the start so you know what you're aiming for and then takes you through each symbol, showing you the stroke order and giving you exercises to practise using and recognising them. Not only that, it explains how Hiragana are actually used in words and sentences. Best textbook I've ever had.

Great way to start learning
To be honest i thought it was going to be really hard to learn a new language have never done so before, but this book, taking you stage by stage, allows you to learn the symbols and it makes it easier than memorizing a dictionary. The way it is set out making you perform tasks, allows you to learn and remember symbols with repetition and also how to write the symbol out (left to right, top to bottom). I learn better with work books and in my own time so this book really allowed me to learn at my own pace. I am intending to buy the next one in the series as soon as i have finished this one.Summary: really good work book and allows you to self learn.

Good
I found it useful; it's well laid out, with stroke order, some spaces to practice drawing the characters. It doesn't, however, use any mnemonics to help you remember the characters- something I found on the web & which was hugely helpful to me.Good if you like your learning in book-form

Great book for starting out, possibly the only book you'll need on Hiragana.
Brilliant book. I'd touched on Hiragana previously but this book really helped me in getting it nailed down. Teaches you 5 hiranga at a time and you learn the stroke order and then have a page to practice on. Then after each new set there are small exercises to help you remember them. Finally once completed, the end of the book contains a couple of small games such as word search.I used this and am very happy now with my understanding of hiragana,

Brilliant!
This book teaches you EVERYTHING you need to know about Hiragana! It will teach you the characters and what they are, how to read, write and speak them! Goes in to good detail to help you understand! For people who are interested in learning Japanese, Hiragana is the right starting point, and I'd recommend this book! I had already learnt it when I bought this, but the book still taught me a thing or two :)

Useful
I'm finding this workbook helpful for learning Hiragana - especially the exercises and stroke order diagrams. Everything is very clear and arranged well, with good reproductions of each symbol. I would have liked more practice space though.
