Q: does it still have the annoying ads? or the "sponsored' screen after it does something? I just want it showing time.

Yes, it most certainly does. Amazon is still forcing ads to show devices. They cannot be turned off. All ads for "Skills" are forced. There is a little "i" in the corner that allows you to block individual ads-- except that the ads do come back anyway. There is a lot that can be shut off in the settings, but these forced ads cannot.

Q: Are you able to operate the Access Controller Pro 2 to open/close doors with this?

I don't have that Controller but I have already given up on using the Echo Show 5 Gen3 and am setting it aside waiting for future software updates to make it usable. As delivered it is a regression, not an improvement over previous gen.

Q: Why when I try to complete registration it gives me a code to type into amazon.com/code it is only pulling up a sign in prompt to my Amazon account?

The prompt to sign in again appears to be normal. No doubt it is to re-verify one has actual access to the account, and not just to a device that was signed into that account. For me, it presented the page to enter the code after I did that.

Q: Does this device support Hulu?

Yes. I purchased this device on Prime Day 2022 and have been to steam Hulu since the day I got it. I’m not crazy about the interface of the app, but it works great! (I have ad-free Hulu with HBO added on).
