It works, it can be drying, but adjust for your own skin
So, I was given an opportunity to try out this product from @neutralyzeskincare for skin with moderate to severe acne. Now, even though I have neither, I do still get hormonal acne. Really thought by this age, I wouldn't be dealing with acne especially since I have fairly dry/combo skin, but hormonal acne is that icky, under the skin cystic kind that you can feel coming on and kinda hurts and if you're like me, you can't stop messing with your face and then your face looks a mess from picking. So, I said yes to trying out this product. I was not paid to try it, but the product was provided to me. It is a nice and easy 3 part system - step 1. Wash; step 2. Repair (this can be stingy, so I used as a spot treatment thinking this was likely the drying step); and step 3. Heal.I read the reviews first and lots of people talked about how drying it is, so I took that into consideration knowing my own skin and used it on March 17th & 18th and only spot treated with step 2 rather than putting on my full face. I am glad that I did because it is very drying for my skin, BUT it completely stopped the hormonal acne in it's place. I continued using my moisterizing serums, oils and sunscreen because I knew how my skin would dry out. It made my skin dry and flaky in the spots I used step 2. - sort of how it does when I do a chemical peel - I don't mind this if it gets rid of the acne, I just increased my moisterizing. I think this product would be great for those with moderate to severe acne, but everyone should start out slow to see how their skin reacts and to figure out how to adjust using it so it works for your skin. It can work really well for you. Today is the 22nd and the hormonal acne that I could feel on the 17th is no longer there and it never turned into that ugly cystic bump, so that is success in my book. It won't be my daily routine because I don't have bad acne any longer, but when I was younger I did, and I think this could really work for people with moderate to severe acne. I do think finding a good sunscreen that doesn't upset your skin and can keep it moisterized while using this product is also very important.

In my son's case, we needed help. My son has combination skin with dry areas and oilier areas. His breakouts were getting bad, beginning small, then blooming to larger, scar-creating ones that weren't healing well. We tried the dermatologist (2 of them), one of whom prescribed something that would have cost almost $600 (!)/month to keep up with. I found out it was just a fancy mix of two meds sold OVER THE COUNTER. So, I got them and mixed our own in a neutral solution. It worked for about two months--after ruining clothing towels and bedding. Then, it just stopped working. His skin was getting so dry that it was making the problem worse. He couldn't use most lotions b/c they burned and irritated him more.SO, we tried this product. I was skeptical. BUT I have to say, it's been 6 months and wow. The results are amazing. No more random spots or sores, no more ruined towels and clothes, no more soreness and embarrassment. He still gets one once in a while, but it goes away MUCH sooner and never gets red and swollen any more. The cost is affordable and the containers actually last a month if you use the product correctly. We are so happy with the results. For us, it has been the best topical portion of our acne solution.Just as an FYI: As anyone with acne knows, topical washes and treatments are only part of the whole solution for management. My son also takes a daily teen vitamin, one vitamin A capsule and 1 probiotic. These all helped us too.

Great results at first, but 2 weeks in...meh
I was feeling really down about the red/inflamed cystic acne along my jawline and it was affecting my confidence. Not to mention, the acne that had already healed had hyperpigmented leaving tell tale scaring. In desperation, I tried this product due to the fact that it was sulfate free (unlike Proactiv which I'm allergic to) and offered next day shipping. So far the results are mixed.. Initially, the inflammation started going down and the trouble maker out of the bunch was no longer red and the tone of my skin overall was improving in just 3 days of use. Based off of these initial results, I was really hoping that with continued use the scars would go away and I will no longer get outbreaks of cystic acne to begin with.Fast forward to 2 weeks later; today I am distraught because I've been doing the routine religiously, morning and night, every day for 17 days and my cystic acne is getting WORSE. I have 4 new cystic pimples emerging that weren't there before I started using the product. I'm really hoping that this is just my body expelling toxins or that hormonal changes are occurring within. I eat healthy, don't drink soda, avoid sugar and exercise regularly. I have also started carrying my water bottle everywhere to stay hydrated/hopefully flush toxins.I really hoped that this product would be the answer, but so far I'm feeling extremely underwhelmed. I plan to complete all of the product to see if my skin just needs more time to adjust to it, but right now I'm feeling discouraged and literally wearing a bentonite clay mask with tea tree oil and manuka honey as I write this to try to make my skin look less angry.I'm not sure why at 30 years old I've started breaking out with cystic acne along the jawline, but I hope to get to the bottom of this soon. For reference, I am female, African American, and only used to get an occasional pimple here and there, but never really needed makeup. Sadly, now I feel I can't leave the house without having my face made up! :(Insider tip: don't squeeze your pimples people! I know it's tempting and I'm guilty of it too, but it always turns out badly. In fact, I really irritated/exacerbated a tiny pimple into a big problem by trying to squeeze out the last of it which was causing raised skin, but it's risky with whiteheads and a bad idea for cysts that are still submerged under the skin. So don't pop those pimples; I know it's hard not to, but your skin will thank you. PS: don't touch your face unless you just washed your hands. Try to be mindful of these little bad habits and you might have more success with your skin; just my two cents from hard lessons learned so you can learn from my mistakes.
