AlphacoolCore 1 CPU Water Block, Silver

Water block works well with my loop

I wish Amazon carried the one with RGB LEDs, but this block is amazing. It's not flat by default, but it's easy to lap the bottom down to pure copper and perfectly flat. The internal flow is smooth and low restriction, and it is flexible in mounting hardware. Everything EK failed to deliver at more than twice the price.

This was much easier to insulate to avoid water condensation. The 16 CPU cores were within 2 deviations of average core temperatures.

Amazon refused the first review. As best as can be visually ascertained, the block is new but clearly the box had been opened. I avoid returned merchandise, things with open/broken seals, like new or refurbished. It's awfully large and heavy. Perhaps it didn't, doesn't or won't fit on some birthing person boards.

It is a beast.

RE: Alphacool Core 1 Block--Second Update --I gave the Alphacool Core 1 CPU block another try with replacement fasteners that Alphacool sent. Unbelievably, the replacement fasteners were also incorrectly threaded but I was able to cobble together a fully working set of fasteners using the original and replacement fasteners. Still, the Alphacool Core 1 block did not perform at the level that HeatKiller IV Pro block; the Alphacool Core 1 is 2C to 4C hotter running than the HeatKiller IV Pro.Ultimately I changed to a Optimus Signature 3 which is an excellent cooling block. It is more expensive, but the performance is consistent with the cost, the Optimus Signature 3 is 2C to 4C cooler running than the HeatKiller IV Pro which is in turn 2C to 4C cooler running than the abysmal Alphacool Core 1 block.I do not recommend the Alphacool Core 1, it is an inferior block.--Update ---My kit was sent with shoddy hardware. In particular one of the knurled nuts is not fully threaded (images attached). When used in the installation this results in one corner of the cooler not being held securely to the CPU, hence the block does not make uniform contact which explains in part why it performed so poorly. Though this does not explain why this block is so very restrictive. I did not discover the fastener problem until I removed and reinstalled the Heatkiller IV Pro.The cold plate on the block is not flat, reflections show this clearly. The screws that hold the plate together were torqued very unevenly probably because the screw holes were not threaded well.Finally, the glue/tape on the backplate of the Alphacool Core 1 caused considerable difficulty in removal. I had to use a heat gun at about medium heat (400F) to remove. Do not use pry tools to remove the Alphacool Core 1 backplate, this can very easily destroy the board. The tape is completely unnecessary and an additional example of inept design.A hot mess indeed...---I don't recommend this block, I think the HeatKiller IV Pro has a definite edge on the AlphaCool Core 1. The AlphaCool is noticeably more flow restrictive than the HeatKiller. With HeatKiller, I get a maximum flow of about 330 lph but with AlphaCool Core 1 it drops to about 285 lph. That would be OK if the AlphaCool worked as well as the HeatKiller but it is 2C to 4C hotter running than the HK.For Intel fitment, I suggest trial fitting the cooler before a final fit. There is some adhesive on the backplate that will stick to the ILM backplate so you really should trial fit to be sure you are using the outer corners of the backplate screws (else the coldplate bracket will not fit). If you find that you must remove the backplate (say to mount some other waterblock), you may need a heat gun to weaken the bond. I don't like that.AlphaCool suggests that the fasteners be finger tightened only but that is nonsense, you will never get the cooler evenly tightened using finger tightening. I suggest that you use a quality torque handle to tighten to about 0.25Nm (or 2.25 in-lb) in a diagonal pattern bringing the torque from 0.1Nm to 0.25Nm in 0.05Nm steps.Keep in mind that you can set the torque tool to correspond to finger tight (for your fingers) by simply grasping the bit on the torque tool and and twisting the handle and then altering the setting to match your finger strength. This way you can at least get a consistent tightness but IMO, 0.25Nm is a suitable tightness.Also, first put tiny bit of light oil on all fastener threads to ensure the fasteners thread completely freely. After torquing, run Cinebench/OCCT/etc to get it to about 90C for a few minutes. Then shutdown and retorque the fasteners to 0.25Nm at least once. Retorquing can make 1C difference in max temperatures.At least the AlphaCool Core provides a Philips slotting on the fasteners, whereas HeatKiller has knurled knobs so you can't use a torque handle and can't be sure about the torque. The best you can do with HeatKiller is to count the turns by marking each the screw heads with a dot, and then counting the turns and hope that the springs are identical. Even so, it is easier to get a good mount on the HeatKiller which probably leads to better temps.Of course, either one is better than any EK block I've used.

Bisher gibt es nichts zu beanstanden. Die Installation war sehr einfach, kühlt meine CPU zuverlässig und macht sich gut in einem Whitebuild-System.Der Versand war schneller als angegeben und sehe insgesamt keinen Grund weniger als fünf Sterne zu vergeben.

mounted on a 7800x3D, great peformances, easy insertion in my current loop, clean manufacturing (no particles inside the waterblook, unlike ekwb)
