Work perfectly right of the box
I needed to replace my old RS485 to USB controller and my software vendor suggested this model. It work perfectly right out of the box. It comes with a driver CD but I did not need it. Also included is a breakout box to adapt between the 9 pin type D serial connector and the RS485 twisted pair cable. I did not need to use the wiring block as my RS485 cable was already terminated into a female 9 pin connector that mated perfectly with this RS485 adapter. Literally a plug and play solution for me. Love it!

Plug and play RS422 and RS485 Used to connect Nabu computer to Linux computer for internet access.
This is the perfect device to connect your NABU computer system to your PC for access to NABU content.I used it under LINUX (Ubuntu), but Windows works just fine as well.

Easy to install and use
I opened the package, plugged the USB cable into my Windows 10 machine, and viola! Windows found the drivers and behold I had a COM port listing for the adapter. With a terminal program I was instantly transmitting and receiving. I uses it for experimental work with microcontrollers. As one reviewer mentioned, the lights blur into each other. I might try his trick to open the case and put heat shrink tubing over the sides of the LEDs, but really not a big deal, anyhow.

Works with Garmin 19x HVS on long cable at 38400
It works! It took me awhile to figure it out, but once there it was more of less obvious. It helps to look at the FTDI reference design for the 422 converter, and as remarked (and in one line of the user manual), 120 ohm termination resistors are recommended at the end of long high speed cables. In my case, needing to connect to a Garmin 19x at the end of 30 meters of cable, they weren't needed. The 'trick' that took me forever was that I initially connected the Garmin TX to the DTech TX lines -- didn't work. Swapped the polarity and lo and behold I could see data. But I then couldn't send messages to the Garmin. After some down time thinking, I correctly connected the Garmin TX to the DTech RX and the Garmin RX to the DTech TX and it all worked. I did have to swap polarity too, but now everything works great!
