Abru Ladder Stand Off

Well pleased with this. Worked for me as the legs were wide enough to span a window which was directly under what I needed to work on.Ladder felt much more secure than I recall when used without a standoff.Was concerned from some other reviews of these and look alikes that there would be burrs and sharp edges and may need a bit of 'flexing' to get the cross brace to fit, but this was not the case.Came in a branded Werner box (not abru) but fitted my abru triple ladder fineEasy to assembly, and then fitting to the ladder was not too much of a faff. 2 minutes max.Concerns in other reviews over the strength of the u-bolts and wing nuts. As an engineer I suspect that this may be intentional - if you do over tighten them, the yes, you will strip the threads of the ubolt or wing nut, but this stops you crushing the rungs of your ladder. Personally, that's the failure mode I would want rather than damaging the ladder. You really don't need to wind up these wing nuts to make it a secure fit.

I am very happy with this ladder stand-off and it does a great job. The wing nuts on the u-bolts were not so strong though, for a critical part, so I added extra nut on them (otherwise 5 Star!)

this Abru ladder standoff came as a Werner brand well made and sturdy the quality is good and also the price . fits my aluminium ext ladder and is fit for my purpose gutter maintenance there are reviews regarding the u brackets which I feel are not a stress issue just attachment and ok for me.

Easy to assemble, good price, well made.Great product, keeps the ladder off the wall, the open style means that where there is a pipe you can move the Abru stand off around it.With a lot of the competitors products they have say a cut out for one central pipe.Drainpipes are usually six inches in from the edge of the wall, which means you cannot get as near to the edge of the gutter as you can with this model

Item arrived swiftly

Takes quite a long time to fit this to a ladder and is not the easiest for one person having to support a heavy extending ladder whilst trying to fit the fiddly nuts and washers. Took more time to fit on the ladder than the time the ladder was used. It is ok but would not buy another one

Ordered an Abru but was sent a Werner, Werner are a good make so no complaints but other buyers should be aware.Definitely a far more solid arrangement than the double hook with a spring versions and feel far safer with this type. The only disadvantage is that they do have to be refitted in differing at times but the few minutes involved is hardly cause for concern and it does feel far safer.Overall more than pleased I chose this type and pretty certain I will not have to buy again.
