Have to charge battery less often.
Great device for maintaining battery life between charges. Easy to set up and connect to doorbell. Highly recommend.

Works for us!!
Does what I expect it to do. Didn't charge so well in the winter months as we had limited sunshine. But as the days have got longer and sunnier, it's worked perfectly, maintaining a level in the 70% range, with no need to manually charge for at least 3 months now.

Complete waste of money
This is mounted on a south facing wall and is completely unobstructed. The Ring doorbell was fully charged on 13th October. It's now the 20th and battery level has dropped to 64% while connected to this solar charger.Obviously this is not fit for purpose and should be banned for sale by Amazon for being such a shoddy and misrepresented product. Having reviewed the product feedback, I see I'm far from unique in my abysmal experience of this product.I would not recommend this to anyone unless I wanted to lose them as a friend.UPDATEItem is 5 months old, 4 months passed the return date, but Amazon have agreed to a full refund. The only reason Amazon would do this is because the product is because they are aware that it is patently not fit for purpose. My problems go further though, as I will now have unsightly holes in the wall where this was fitted and there isn't a suitable alternative so I'll have to keep charging the doorbell every couple of weeks and I can't trust this product to function for more than a few days if I go away. This is totally unsatisfactory and far more than a mere inconvenience.I've got to the point that I have now completely lost confidence in the whole Ring ecosystem. I have a camera that shows a completely ghosted image at night, over around 60% of the viewer image, which Ring refuse to deal with. This product is the final straw and an expensive, salutory lesson. I'll be replacing the whole system, doorbell, cameras and alarm, with something more durable and reputable.

Does help to keep charged
Decided to finally get one. To help avoid need to remove and charge. Just make sure you fully charge bell. And is in sunny enough place to work. Was easily fitted to our upvc porch frame using long screws provided. Is plenty cable to be able to lift off and remove the charging block. And pushes back in to frame.Has kept it between mid 80s and high 90s charge but given weather at moment done well. I know some one who has one and says in winter due to spells poor weather and less light has had to charge it to make sure.Is easily cleaned and good quality as expect from ring. Just a shame it doesn't have the weather cover pre built in to it as our bell does get rain driven at times. And when sun is low it can dazzle the camera. I did manage to use the top part of one I had and silicone it in place. On top of bell unit so not blocking solar panels. So far has kept sun and rain off.

Great add-on for the doorbell!
This is compatible with the Ring Doorbell 2 SECOND GEN! The one with a micro USB charger. Not to get confused with the Doorbell 2 that has 2 screws to connect a wire to, that requires a different solar charger. Out of the box it is easy to set up and uses the original doorbell holes. Just use the new screws it comes with and then screw the doorbell to the base with the smaller screws provided. When fitted you will get a logo on the Ring App to show it’s connected and it will also show connected via solar charger on the health screen also. Great add-on for the doorbell! We fitted it 7 days ago and the doorbell was on 69%. It’s fitted under a small front canopy but still gets sunlight during the morning until around 10-11am as the door is west facing. We’ve had 2 days of rain and cloud, a day of over cast weather and the rest has been sunny and without fail it’s charged 1% each day and is now on 76%. If you’re buying it thinking it’s going to keep it charged to 100% constantly or charge like on the mains then think about getting your doorbell hardwired. This is brilliant as it trickle charges and keeps the battery topped up without the hassle of cables and holes. We used to get 3 months from a charge, but no doubt this won’t need charging for most of the year going by the figures so far. If you have a door south facing and get sun most of the day this would be ideal for you! This is definitely going to save time and money and help keep my security systems up and running without the need to charge every few months.

Mediocre, go with a proper solar panel or hardwired if you can.
Pretty mediocre solar charger really, easy to set up and mount the doorbell to, sleek in appearance and doesn't really add to the real estate taken up by the doorbell already, but it just doesn't provide enough juice to the doorbell, I expected better from Ring.We have since bought a proper solar panel, and while this still isn't as good as being hardwired, a larger surface area solar panel is always better than the tiny panels this has.

Solar panel for Gen 2 Ring doorbell
Fantastic, so easy to install (I already had a ring doorbell in place), I used to have to charge my ring every 4 weeks, I last charged it 3 weeks ago and I've still got 75% battery. Please make sure you get the correct solar panel for the correct ring bell, this one is Gen 2 only because of the USB C charging.
