High Quality Work
Having no real experience in coding prior to buying this book I found I was offered a wealth of knowledge & instruction. This book is clear, concise & very easy to follow allowing little opportunity to go wrong. Plenty of images to offer visual aids & plenty of handy URLs included to see each step included running for when things may get a touch confusing.100% recommend this book to anyone looking to learn from scratch. No experience needed at all.Well done guys

Must read for beginners on latest IOS 16
Missed the previous editions but had an opportunity to access the seventh edition of the book by Ahmad Sahar and Craig Clayton. Firstly I would say it is a long book, appreciate the patience of authors to make this so simpler to the readers to digest, dummies is a better alternative term I would suggest. Book dwells on IOS programming, well structured guided approach with screenshots and links to apple site and git repository, which is very helpful to keep up to date, external video links are bonus. This book helps for someone new to programming world on IOS, experienced ones can get latest updates which I did myself including refresh the basics on swift programming language, WeatherKit. Journey of the book flows with real time use cases, extra efforts were put by authors to master on advanced designs including maps, later deep dive on to the programming, design patterns, tools and utilities including my favorite handling data. Extension of apps through Mac Catalyst and shipping the app to app store well explained. Downside is long book to read with some repeated basic information and again referenced through external links. Overall I really enjoyed reading the book, for sure a go to place to refer my basics at any given time. Thanks for the Packt team and authors for giving me this opportunity to review.

Terrible quality for the pages - washed out
Some of the pages have been printed so poorly that it's hard to see what they say, this includes images on pages that are washed out.The content itself is fine, it's just reading through it that's a problem because sometimes you can't even make out what something says.

A good foundation for beginners
If you’re considering learning iOS development and like me, prefer reading materials over video as your style of learning, I’d easily be able to recommended iOS 16 Programming for Beginners.A lot of the beginner topics such as Collection Types, Simple Value Types and more, have all the necessary information allowing you to get a nice brief overview of the subject and also serve as a quick reference guide whilst you’re still learning.Moving on from chapters like Basic Operators and Type Safety, the book explores the basics of Error handling, custom UI controls, CoreData (which could easily be its own book!), Mac Catalyst, Widgets and information about the actual submission process to the AppStore. The last two topics, I haven’t commonly found in the same book aimed at beginners and personally, I think the addition of topics like these serve as a great example for an all round book for getting starting with native iOS development. Not only does it cover the Swift programming language, it also highlights Xcode as a tool with images as you go through the book. For someone just starting this is really useful as online tutorials are often not updated when they talk about things like storyboards etc and overtime Xcode changes slightly. This will be useful for people who haven’t even downloaded Xcode yet.For someone just starting out, I would recommend this book for a good overall basis for common topics as a launchpad and reference guide to their continued learning. Touching on UIKit, Storyboards and SwiftUI, this book will serve as a good reference guide after finishing the book and as a foundation to learn more advanced topics.

A really good starting point for getting into iOS and UIKit
This book really goes into the basics of getting into iOS but also expands on these topics to some of the more intermediate areas. Plenty of code snippets and screenshots make it easy to follow along, and lots of extra notes and hints help to fully understand what is happening.I liked the section on Mac Catalyst which doesn't get much coverage and showing the need to think about different sizes and orientations. There's a broad range of coverage here including CollectionViews, MapKit, CoreData and Storyboards. It also covers some of the newer additions of iOS 16 such as WeatherKit and Lock Screen Widgets.Even though there is a small section on SwiftUI which does prelude the Widget section, I'd say this book is more focused on those wanting to learn UIKit, but at least gives a started into the SwiftUI world.
