No wetting required. Placed the reed straight onto the mouthpiece, and got good solid notes from the get go. Still on the first reed, it appears they do not wear out as quickly as normal reeds. Trying the same thing on my tenor sax at the moment and getting the same results there.

These reeds are the best I have ever used, usable straight from the box they sound like a reed that has been conditioned for a good 30 mins.I haven't played my saxaphone in a few years and found these reeds incredibly easy to use, and they don't do that annoiying squeek that I tend to get with normal reeds.I shall be buying more of these in the future.

How wonderful, My other half has started playing the Sax and has as a novice experienced issues with ordinary reeds splitting etc. trying to find something that suited has been a real problem... ( having tried several grades and manufacturers products.) We decided to try these plasctic covered reeds .. and have an imediate result.Not only are they more comfortable to use, but it has actually made the instrument easier to play all scales are easier to reach and the sound is better too. rich and deep to bright full tones as the higher notes are reached.these have transformed playing and given more confidence.Delivery and packaging were exellent,a very big thank you.

Bought for my wife who is learning to place the Alto and Tenor Saxophones.Good quality and lasts a lot longer than the ordinary reeds.Worth buying
