This Battle of Iwo Jima collectible depicts the raising of the Stars and Stripes atop Mount Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima during World War II. This collectible is brand new and in it's original package! The bronze statue is mounted on a beautiful hardwood base that has actual sand from the island of Iwo Jima affixed to the bronze base! This unique collectible was first created for the 226th MARINE CORPS BALL held on Okinawa, Japan in 2001. It has been copied for later U.S. Marine Corps balls due to its extreme popularity and now has been developed to commemorate the raising of our flag on the island of Iwo Jima. This rare collectible honors the men and women of the United States Marine Corps that serve, those that have served, and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to their country since the Marine Corps founding in a small bar called Tun Tavern, November 10, 1775. You can search the internet for something similar and you won't find anything close to this memento and you're going to experience sticker shock! This is by far the best deal on the internet as far as price goes and it is the only one that I have found that comes with actual sand from the island of Iwo Jima. I have a limited amount remaining and once these are gone you'll be at the mercy of extreme prices for products of minimal quality than item being offered. This truly is a rare item and would be a fine addition to your collection. This collectible honors the memory of the men and women of the United States Marine Corps that serve, those that have served, and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to their country since the Marine Corps founding in a small bar called Tun Tavern, November 10, 1775.

A Unique Patriotic Gift for Veterans
There are a lot of patriotic gift ideas out there. I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect gift for my husband, who is a veteran of the Marine Corps. When I saw this piece, I thought, "this is it." The flag raising on Mt. Siribachi, Iwo Jima, is an event that is held in high regard by many Marines (and other branches of service as well). So I ordered the piece. When it came, I liked it even more than when I first saw it. The sculpture is set on a dark wood base, inscribed, and contains real black volcanic sand from Iwo Jima itself. The sculpture is a bit bigger than pictured, and the sand makes it heavier than it looks. It's a quality piece that now has a place of honor in our home. If you know a veteran who is a military history or WWII aficionado, this is a piece I think will bring a lot of enjoyment. Very satisfied; highly recommended!

An excellent miniature reproduction of the Washington DC statue.
My brother was on Iwo Jima during WWII.. Enough said. However, this statuette will be part of a display for July.
