 the goal is to have the last for at least a year I’ve done so with regular lithium batteries.  Thanks

SUMMARY: Each Hixon battery supplies (1.5v x 3a =) 4.5 watts. Total battery power =  # batteries x 4.5 watts. If Total Battery Power > Required Device Power (in watts, as stated on the device), then your device will work with this battery. You may need to multiply (volts) x (amperes) if the Required Device Power is not specified in watts or milliwatts.

DETAILS: For any 1.5v (1.5 volt) AA battery device, the answer to "Does it work in <device>?" is, it depends on how much power is required from the battery. The device should and almost always does specifies power required for proper operation, especially if there is a jack to plug in an AC adapter. Power is measured in watts. Sometimes the required power is stated in watts, and sometimes the required power is implied by specifying required volts and amperes (current).

Always, (volts) x (amperes) = (watts). Also, 1000 milliamps = 1 amp and 1000 milliwatts =  1 watt. Sometimes all three (volts, amperes, watts) are stated. If volts x amperes does not equal watts, your device was not designed by an engineer and its requirements can only be determined by trial and error. Watch out for melting parts.

All devices using 1.5v batteries I have seen connect the batteries "in series", top to bottom, + contacting -. For a "series" connection, the voltages add together but the current remains the same as it would be for one battery. For example, this blue Hixon Li-ion battery supplies up to 3a (3 amperes), so if your device requires 3a or less, this battery will work.  Many devices will specify required watts instead of amperes; if it takes two batteries, this battery will supply up to 9 watts (1.5v + 1.5v = 3v, and 3v x 3a = 9 watts). If it takes four batteries, then up to 18 watts (4 times 1.5v = 6v, and 6v x 3a = 18 watts).

Do Hixon Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries have a Rechargeable memory

I cannot say for certain, however They do not appear to have a memory.  They hold their charge for a long period of time and I recharge them when I can't believe they can last as long as they do.  I love them because they are at 1.5 volts until they stop.  At that point they recharge and are as good as new.

Which slots to use when only charging 2 batteries?

All 4 slots work independently. You can charge 1,2,3 or 4 batteries at a time. It does not matter what slot to use.
