A fantastic resource for anyone making music.
An excellent guide for developing the skills, confidence, and motivation needed to not only make, but to actually finish the music you have floating around in your head. Jason is a great communicator, and has a way of relaying the information in a way that's easily digestible and can be put to use immediately. The video links are especially helpful. Buy this book! Finish your songs! You'll be happy you did.

Big disappointment
I bought this book based on the reviews that it got. Unfortunately this book was very disappointing. Instead of focusing on the process of music production, this books gives out very general and not so in-depth descriptive “Tips & tricks”. The layout and book itself feels not so inspiring and poorly distributed.

Possibly the best purchase you can ever make
Making electronic music is both fun and frustrating. Fun, because you make a loop in no time with samples and synths. Frustrating, because an 8-bar loop is not yet a song. And then the misery begins. How do you turn those 8 into an irresistible song that captivates from beginning to end? The Process offers the solution. The Process is a thin book that fits Jason's philosophy exactly: work fast and keep it simple! Making choices quickly will keep you inspired and motivated. But how do you make those choices? Jason has thought of that too, with a handy framework:This is The Process in a nutshell:- Create a sound palette for your genre in advance.- Realize you don't need fancy plugins.- Create an 8 bar loop that sounds super.- Duplicate that to the length of your song.- Borrow the arrangement of a track you like.- Create a basic structure in as short a time as possible.- Only then start working out your main idea. The goal is not to copy, but to create a basis as quickly as possible. Then fill it in with your own inspiration, energy and ideas so that you can finish songs in no-time.The Process sounds good. Still, I was a little shocked when the booklet plopped on my mat. Can such a thin booklet be any good? After 7 days of reading and studio time, my answer is YES!Jason's approach and tips prevent you from overcomplicating your music making. This is an enormous pitfall when producing. The Process reduces making music to the core: first the big picture, then the details. That saves a lot of time, energy and frustration. You stay fresh and avoid getting completely fed up with your own song.In the first 14 days after working with The Process, I completed 2 new songs. Before that, I was taking at least a month to complete a song and putting way too much time into ideas and details that didn't even make it into the final song. Bummer!More plugins, more synths, more knowledge. As a music producer, it's incredibly tempting to lose yourself out in this. This book makes it abundantly clear that this doesn't make the difference. What really matters is making more music, finish arrangements faster and making sure you keep the creative spark. Considered this way, The Process, with its $20 purchase price (print version), may be the best purchase you can ever make. Highly recommended.Rutger Steenbergen // The Facto // Bombario

Great methodology for finishing music.
This book has really helped me develop a process for finishing tracks. Well worth the read if you struggle with looper's syndrome. I spend more time on arranging and less time endlessly tweaking sounds. I highly recommend this book!
