Love, love, love this book!!!!!! I am a counselor and this book is great for children experiencing divorce. The book discusses feelings associated with divorce, and gives children permission to exhibit them. I once had a girl in counseling pick the fish and said she wanted to be the fish so she could hide all her tears and no one else would have to see them. I read the book to her dad and he immediately picked the fish out for her. It was great to see that he recognized his daughter's feeling and it helped them bond in this time of sadness.

Good book to connect but my daughter didn't care about it. We both think that it is little too serious not fun.

MY children's counselor actually uses this book I found that out after I bought this book. MY daughter likes cats so she could relate to the little. The author uses animals in the illustrations. I do recommend this if it comes to this. but its always better for the parents to get counseling and see if they can work things out with a counselor.

I got this, hoping it would help my daughter cope with the divorce. It's okay. It's quite wordy and she isn't really interested. She's only 3 though so maybe as she gets older, she'll be able to listen more. It felt less like a children's book and more of a detailed explanation about how it wasn't the kid's fault...it was a little too heavy, even for me. We both were pretty bored by it.

My stepdaughter loved the pictures in this book. She doesn't remember her parents splitting up because she was so young. Now she is getting a little bit older and has more questions about her parents divorce. The book has been a great tool to show her what happened when she was younger, she is able to make a little more sense out of things. It has given her clarity.

Great book to help walk children through divorce and great for parents to understand their children better. Excellent source in back of book that reviews what behaviors and emotional reactions to expect from children that have experienced divorce.

My Divorce and Beyond children’s group really like the book. They picked the animal that they felt like. Did not need to name their feeling but could talk about the animal.

Really good book. My daughter could really connect with it. It did make her cry. Make sure you read it yourself first to make sure your child is ready.

Perfect book for little ones to try and understand their parents' divorce. Also good for older ones if you do it on the basis .. 'can you read this and tell me what you think' type of stuff.

Excellent book and one of a selection my Mothers' Union branch have purchased for using in schools in our town. They are used when a child needs to read it or have it it read to them by a supporting adult.
