Lonnky - Active PoE Splitter (4 Pack)
If you have IP cameras that are not Power over Ethernet (PoE) capable, you can use these little adapters so that you are able to power them over an Ethernet cable. In the pack you get 4 x splitters that are made up of several parts to keep the connection weather proof. You have a fairly large connector body that you connect your Ethernet cable to, coming from your router or switch. This connector then splits into two separate wires – a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet cable that transmits data from your camera and a 12v power connector to power it.There converter supports the IEEE 802.3af standard and will convert a standard 44 to 57 volt input from a PoE enabled switch/router down to a 12v, 1 Amp.***** In The Box *****4 x Active PoE Splitters1 x User Guide***** Installation / Usage *****As long as you have a PoE enabled router or switch, using the adapters is really quite straight forward. You simply connect the end of the Ethernet cable coming from the router to the adapter and then connect the cables coming out of the adapter to the CCTV camera. This will then power the camera over the Ethernet cable and will remove the need for a dedicated power supply.***** Conclusion *****I’m really pleased with these little adapters from Lonnky.I have an IP camera at the end of my garden mounted up on a pole, but it requires its own power supply that I have plugged in to my shed. Using one of these adapters, I have been able to power the camera using my existing PoE enabled switch that the camera was already connected to and regain the use of a power socket in my shed, so it was literally just a case of unplugging the camera, adding the adapter to the end of the cable and reconnecting the camera.I have also used a second adapter to power a switch that I have placed in my loft and once again managed to regain the use of a power socket. It is worth noting that although you can use these to power various devices using PoE, you need to make sure that they require 12v and 1Amp or less.I like that the connectors are fitted with waterproof type connectors, although the ends that lead to the camera are not waterproof and will need to be placed inside a box.I think the current asking price of £25.99 (£6.50 per adapter) is pretty reasonable and is a great way to remove some extra power adapters, untidy cables and free up some power sockets.
