Acacia Wood Magnetic Knife Block Holder, Universal Stand Without Knives

I'm so torn...upon first inspection I was pleasantly surprised on how nice the wood was but then I instantly noticed the one inch crack in the upper corner of the plastic shield. I then started inspecting the block and noticed another less noticeable crack by the lower left screw. After placing my knives in the block I was very impressed with the overall look as well as the strength of the magnets. This is where I'm torn. I know I should refund this because it arrived damaged but now the product page says that the item is unavailable. This block looks so good holding my knives that I'm considering not going through with the return in fear that I won't have a chance to order it again. Guess I'll just hold out until the day before the return deadline hoping it comes back in stock.**edit 'Yitchen' customer service is exceptional. They reached out to me regarding my disappointment with this product and did what they could to rectify it. I have no problem changing my three star to five (which I would've given the knife block if it didn't arrive with the cosmetic damages) and I am super appreciative that there are companies like them that stand by their product

I purchased this to replace a traditional knife block that just looked lame and boring on my countertop while taking up a lot of space. Also, I've recently invested in some very expensive high quality knives that look AMAZING, and I wanted to show them off! This fulfills all my knife display desires so I am very pleased. My one concern has to do with the acrylic cover... Acrylic has that kind of static charge that attracts things to it, and I have a cat so I've been having to brush random cat hair from it. Of course it's better to have random cat hair on the acrylic vs. on my beautiful knives, but I think the knives and wood wouldn't attract cat hair the way the acrylic does. I might test that theory by gently removing the acrylic (which would make it easier to use the knives anyway). But that's a minor quibble and more to do with my own personal situation so not a mark against this knife stand. I love it and love that it was less expensive than the branded knife stand I sent back and replaced.

Color and quality of wood is nice. Doesn’t take up a lot of counter space yet holds all of the knives I was wanting to use it for nicely. Unfortunately, like many other reviews, item arrived with acrylic cracked where screwed into the wood. Crack is on the bottom corner so not terribly noticeable but still frustrating. My acrylic piece wasn’t placed evenly on the wood so edges don’t align. Magnet not as strong as anticipated. Some reviews show pictures of knives being supported on the back of the block but it doesn’t seem to hold my knives. Overall, item seems like it was made quickly by someone who doesn’t care about the minor details.

Overall we are delighted with this product and would recommend it. The reason we marked it down for "Easy to clean" was that it comes with an acrylic cover over the face that makes it very difficult to clean if any food matter should fall behind the acrylic face. I wasn't aware of this feature when I ordered. I imagine it's for safety to prevent the knives from falling off the board or from accidental cuts, but my wife is a food safety engineer for a large manufacturer and wouldn't allow it into our kitchen until I permanently removed with acrylic cover. This was easily done with a Phillips screw driver. Perhaps it was designed to be cleaned this way but I found it to be too much of a bother to be taking the acrylic on and off again. A buyer might remove only the two bottom screws if desired so that the cover could be lifted and hinged away from bottom to allow for easier cleaning.

Packaged well but the two screw holes on the right side of the acrylic cover were both cracked. The tow holes on the left side were fine. I overlooked the numerous reviews that mentioned the very same thing. My son has opted to remove the acrylic cover and fill the 4 holes and just use the board as is rather than hassle with retuning the item. It’s surprisingly weird that with as many comments the vendor hasn’t increased product inspection.

I love the look and price-point, but wish it was just a bit more robust in construction. We've had it for 2-3 months and already the plastic shield (which is difficult to see in the photos) has small cracks near the bottom, and the wooden back plate has cosmetic scratches. With that said, it's sleek, elegant and easy to use, with a strong magnet.

Mine arrived intact, and it's quite attractive and well-made especially for the price. The magnets seem to be strong enough to do their job. I am also pleased with the lack of branding on the front. I haven't decided if I will remove the plexiglass front or not.EDIT: Doesn't hold small knives very well as the magnets are too far down to be very effective.

This stand is much more flimsy then we had anticipated. The magnets are also very weak which allows the knifes to slide around in the holder. Also top heavy and will fall over at the slightest movement. Would not recommend this
