Sena R1 / R1 EVO Smart Communications Cycling Helmet

Sound and sizing are decent. Bluetooth works extremely well and helmet pairing for communications is amazing. Slight delay once link is requested, but sound quality is great. Larger distance between riders causes slight garbled comms, but not a major issue. Overall, great product and has made riding with others more fun.

My wife and I bought these helmets this summer and we couldn't be happier. We enjoy biking together, but communication is always a struggle. Sometimes paths are too narrow, or we just happen to be cycling at different speeds, at which time we have to yell at each other. These helmets exceeded our expectations in several ways.1. Setup was easy. I ignored the vague directions and just watched a youtube video once to connect our helmets. We did not synch them to our phones and it literally took less than 5 minutes.2. Clarity. I read some reviews saying that the quality wasn't good, but that was not the case for us. Not only is the sound realistic, but it is also very clear and easy to understand.3. Range. On the Katy Trail in Missouri we actually checked and we still have good connection at 0.3 miles. Finally I went around a slight bend and the connection started to cut out some as our line of sight diminished.4. Length of charge. I don't know the exact amount of time, but I do know we had at least 6 hours before our first charge, which was this morning. When I put my helmet on it said the battery was low. We biked for about 40 minutes and were still communicating when we returned to the house. Charge time was quick.5. We purchased the visors, which are fairly short, as others have noted, but it's better than nothing.6. Lack of wind noise. When it's really windy we pick up some wind noise, but for the most part it is a non-factor.We absolutely love these helmets. The ability to talk back and forth about the nature we encounter, and just simply being able to carry on a conversation while biking is a game-changer for us.We ordered mediums, and both have a 22" head measurement. The helmet would go a little larger, but not much. If your head size is bigger than that, I'd recommend a large.

this bicycle helmet is awesome. The Bluetooth features have multiple functions. Great to have a especially if you have a riding partner who has the same helmet.

The speaker is cheap. It doesn’t play well on music. Intercom is good enough

We use with our E Bikes, We tried several different communication systems. Yelling, Bluetooth over the head (head sets that interfered with helmets) and required phone connection and wind problems, Blue tooth ear buds that require phone connection with wind problems (helped with taped on foam), blue tooth hands free walkie talkies for without phone service with our blue tooth ear buds, (couldn't get to work). Also tried motorcycle blue tooth helmet add on that sticks on the outside of the helmet but no place for the mike or speakers to attach on a open bike helmet. We bought two of these, one blue R1-Standard medium and one large R-1 (not standard) black. Quiet sound black but good sound on the blue. Bought another pair to figure out which one was the bad, the black R-1 or the Blue R-1 Standard. The two Black R-1 (not standard) helmets worked great together and the two blue R-1 Standard worked great together but not R-1 (not standard) black with R-1 standard blue. Kept the two black helmets because the blue wasn't available in a large (and the black would adjust down) and Returned the two blue ones. So the R-1 Standard and the R-1 (not standard) although kind-of work together are not fully compatible. These are great, we used on our first 50 mile bike ride last week and they worked all day. line of sight until out of sight and shorter around obstacles. Its like they are right beside you only better, no obstruction of ears for full situational awareness. Get the visor, it helps with sun and I think it helps capture your voice. Great sound pickup with no wind noise. Can take phone calls with a push of a button and automatically returns to helmet talk when you hang up. Haven't tried all the functions like radio or group. I love these!

Like the helmet very much. Fits great with the adjustable liner, communicating with my wife is great. The microphone is very sensitive in a positive way and the speakers provide clear sound and no wind noise. I would highly recommend this helmet. I bought the Sena R1 based on the positive reviews and the fact that I do not wish to communicate with a large number of bikers as the other versions can do. Range is excellent, probable several hundred yards. I would highly recommend the R1 helmet. Shame it does not include a visor.

Have had them for a week so far. Directions a little confusing. But was easy to pair to phone. And sync to the other helmet . Had to turn volume down on helmet the sound is really clear has pretty good range on helmets. We stay pretty close on ride but a few times lost sight of my husband but I was still able to hear him. So far really impressed with helmet.

Livall oder Sena, welche sind besser? Da wir 2 neue Helme kaufen wollten, sollte die Freisprecheinrichtung und Walkie-Talkie-Funktion einfach bedienbar und gut sein. Ein Muss für uns war es, zu zweit mit einer direkten Kommunikationsmöglichkeit vor allem sicherer unterwegs zu sein, ohne immer "nach hinten schauen" zu müssen oder bei Unterhaltungen mit Fahrtwind ohne Funk immer nur die Hälfte zu verstehen. Wir hatten erst den Livall MT1 Neo. Als Einzelhelm ok, aber die Walkie-Talki-Funktion war hier nicht zu gebrauchen. Statt nur nach hinten habe ich beim Livall nun auch noch immer nach unten auf die App geschaut und dazu noch an Apps und an den Helm-Knöpfen vorne im Sichtbereich rumgefummelt. Supernervig und sehr gefährlich! Man braucht also die beiliegende Fernbedienung (FB Remote-Control BR80 ), da Handhabung über Smartphone und Helmknöpfe beim Livall zu fummelig beim Fahren.Fazit: Die 2 Sena-Helme R1 Evo sind für uns perfekt. Sie spielen, was die Freisprecheinrichtung mit Noise Cancelling und Walkie-Talkie-Funktion angeht, in der Champions-League und zwar um den Titel. Einfach Mesh-Intercom eingeschaltet lassen und jederzeit klar Sprechen & Hören und gleichzeitig Gegensprechen über eine große Entfernung und mit wenig Zeitversatz und ganz wichtig: ohne zusätzliche Knöpfe drücken zu müssen. Perfekt und (nicht nur) für den eBike-Fahrer sicher gelöst! Auch nach der letzte Tour mit dem technikaffinen Schwiegersohn hatten die Sena-Helme viel Lob bekommen ("Super, kann man auch als Nicht-Rentner machen..." ;-). Wo liegen die Negativpunkte: Der Normal-UVP um die 209 EUR sind kein Pappenstiel. Wir haben wenigstens einen Helm für 159 € bekommen. Dieser Preis ist gerade noch akzeptabel. Statt Open-Mesh wäre Group-Mesh wünschenswert, um mit dem Partner oder einer Gruppe sicher zu kommunizieren, insbesondere bei den Normalpreisen von über 200 € würde ich das eigentlich erwarten. Aber OK, wir hatten noch keine ungebetenen Gäste auf unserem Kanal, sind aber auch nur ländlich unterwegs. Weil der Helm bis auf das fehlende Group-Mesh super ist, behalten wir die Sena-Helme. Die Usability hat uns überzeugt, und das auch bei 6 Windstärken gegen den Wind! Es macht richtig Spaß, mit Intercom Dauer-AN zu fahren. Wenn der Partner nix sagt, ist totenstille... und man kann das Fahrradfahren auch mal, wie früher, nur für sich alleine genießen.Noch ein Paar Pros/Cons zum Sena-Helm:+ Größenangabe für uns ok. Helm sitz gut und lässt sich an Kopfumfang durch Drehknopf am Hinterkopf anpassen. Mit Sonnenschutzblende. Helmgurte waren bei unserem Modell einmal einzustellen und dann ok.+ dezentes rotes Licht hinten am Helm. Blinkend und Dauerlicht.+ Freisprecheinrichtung top zu verstehen auch bei 6 Windstärken an der Ostsee gegen den Wind! Da gibt es rein gar nichts zu meckern. War schon beeindruckend...+ Umgebungsgeräusche natürlich gut zu hören, da die Lautsprecher seitlich am Helm positioniert sind.+ Helm-Knöpfe seitlich links hinten. Perfekt zu bedienen, auch ohne App.+ Keine Fernbedienung notwendig.+ Walkie-Talkie-Modus bis 400 mtr und mehr mit sehr guter Verständigung. Bei Büschen oder sonstigen Hindernissen dazwischen sind es auch nur noch mal 50 mtr. Aber einfach losplaudern und nix drücken müssen. Top Sprachverständigung!+ Helm hat USB-C Ladeanschluß und hält mit einer Ladung über 5 Std durch. Länger sind wir noch nicht gefahren.+ Evo-Funktion mit Mesh-Intercom für mehr als 2 Fahrer ist schon mal super. Aber es ist Open-Mesh...+ Musikhören parallel zu Intercom/Walkie-Talkie. Wenn Helm-Partner redet, wird z.B. die Musik im Hintergrund runtergeregelt.+ normale Konversation mit jederzeitigem Gegensprechen möglich, ohne erst Knopfe oder ähnlichesdrücken zu müssen.+ Durch die Art der jederzeitigen und sofortigen Kommunikation mit Sena-Helmen ein zugewinn an Sicherheit, gerade auch beim eBike fahren.++ Frau ist auch restlos überzeugt und will jetzt nur noch mit diesem Helm fahren, egal wie die Frisur hinterher aussieht.- Kein Insektenschutz an den Helmöffnungen.- Kein autom. Bremslicht und kein "Not-LED" vorne, wenn das Licht am Fahrrad auf unserer wirklich dunklen Waldstrecke mal ausfallen sollte. OK, Handy ginge dann ja auch zur Not noch... und, die Bremslicht-Funktion am Livall-Helm hat uns aber auch nicht restlos überzeugt. Dann lieber ohne.- Keine SOS Notruf-Funktion. Haben wir aber über die Samsung-Watch.- Kein Group-Mesh, also irgendwann kann mal jemand auf dem gewähleten Kanal (1 bis 9) "reinfunken" oder "mithören". Also keine gesicherte Gruppen-/Partnerkommunikation. Es gibt aber 9 Kanäle zur Auswahl und wir fahren nur ländlich...- Helmverschlussmechanismus sehr einfach, old school... da hat mein 3 Jahre alter 50 € Helm einen komfortableren Mechanismus. Haut einklemmen am Hals ist beim Livall und Sena damit durchaus möglich.

Bad quality - 2 helmets including a replacement the buckles on the side break on first use. It looks like a factory defect on that part. By opening the right side buckle it would immediately break off the moving handle. This was a present and it is a security product... if they cannot assure a simple buckle on 2 helmets how can I trust the security of the product?

Cuando lo tienes en las manos te das cuenta que la construcción es muy buena, se le ve recio y se nota que detrás hay una marca de cascos de moto, peeeroo es pesado, demasiado, es cierto que al rato de llevarlo te olvidas del peso pero la parte trasera del cuello lo acusa hasta que te habitúas.El emparejamiento es rápido y preciso, su manejo con los botones cómodo e intuitivo y su sonido es correcto , suficiente para ir en bici, no esperéis nada mas, en cuanto a la luz trasera no puedo decir nada porque no lo he probado pero dudo que de día sea suficientemente visible, tampoco he probado la comunicación en malla pero se por compañeros que funciona muy bien.NO TIENE CONTROL POR VOZ (Ok Sena), al revés de lo que algún "youtuber" afirma, como para fiarse de ellos, pero si puedes acceder a Ok Google sin problema.A mi me ha gustado y se ha convertido en mi casco principal.

Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas de mode d'emploi on gagnerait du temps . Pour moi écouter la radio et téléphoner sont les utilisations principales. Pour le confort et la taille (S) je le trouve bien et le design aussi .

Casque confortable. C'est un minimum.En revanche la partie kit mains libre "bluetooth" n'est pas assez puissante. Vous devrez ralentir en dessous de 15km/h pour pouvoir entendre votre correspondant.Autre souci rencontré : impossible de mettre à jour le Firmware du casque depuis mon PC comme me le demande l'APP à chaque fois que je la lance. Il semble que l'utilitaire de mise à jour soit archaïque (optimisé pour Windows XP...).
