Bought it to use PCVR over wifi. It works great.
I am a VR user who relies on Virtual Desktop for wireless use of PC-VR titles.... This router was essential to my efforts to isolate my PC and my VR headset from the rest of the network... And it works VERY well. Connection is stable and fast over LAN, it has a great future set, it is use to use, and It is overall a high quality product. If you use PCVR in an apartment like mine, signal interference can be an issue due to the limited amount of wireless bands. My suggestion is to reboot the router if you have issues... If the issues persust, take a binder, remove the rings, and add heavy duty tinfloil to the binders interior with tape to create an improvised partial faraday cage. This will allow you to focus the wifi like it's a satillite dish's signal.

This is the best router I have owned!
I recently encountered an "upgrade offer" with my provider (Spectrum) and they wanted to up my speed from 400 to 500 for free, but I would need to swap out my old modem and router. I received the new quipment and the new router didn't offer any additional networks like the old one and I had to download their app to my phone to get into the settings rather that enter the home address in a browser. Suspicious. I called then and they confirmed no additional networks. I asked to go back to the old setup and they said they could no longer see my router, but it still worked like it did pre upgrade, but I wouldn't get the speeds I was paying for. Paying them 5 bucks a month for the router they couldn't see. LOL.I did a little bit of research and found out that the router I was paying 5 bucks a month actually only cost 20 to buy. Lazy me didn't DYOR and paid for it many times over. So, knowing what I know and having IT skills, I selected this router based on all the great features and networks as well as ratings. I got the router within 3-4 biz days. Setup was a breeze and I have 2 networks again with the option of a 3rd and it automatically detects 2 or 5g and the coverage in the house is much larger that the providers old router. I don't need an extender. The router is in the middle of my 1600 sq ft house and I get speeds of over 500 wifi and ethernet all of the house.I would buy this again and recommend to everyone I know!

Excellent Quality, not difficult to install
First off, this thing can be either a wireless router or a wireless access point. While that may be awesome for some, I already have a capable router/firewall and do NOT want any access points accidentally handing out IP addresses if they lose their programming. I've had it happen before with other brands. Also, I cannot stand the way Netgear includes a yellow Ethernet cable. You should NEVER bend an Ethernet cable like that. Roll it up in a circle with a diameter no smaller than a can of soda. Also, being well versed in IT, setting these up was more difficult than it needed to be. If you're not technical, I can imagine that these would be super easy to set up. But power users may struggle a bit to find where some settings are hidden, and there are some that I still haven't found.Been using them for over a week now and I'm getting good signal strength and throughput.I put one near the bedroom TV and the LEDs for the 2.4 GHz band and 5 GHz band are so bright and blinky that I had to move them so I could sleep. Also, I don't see any way to mount them to a wall, mount them in a communications rack, etc. Pretty much all you can do is stand it up. I generally prefer a few more options so that they will fit in with the rest of my network equipment.I know I've mentioned a lot of stuff I don't like about these and Netgear devices in general, but they are very competent at doing what they are intended to do. If you can live with these minor annoyances, they should work just fine for you.

Feature rich, easy to set up, fantastic price!
This is an amazing router. It can be used as either you primary wireless router, or to extend the range of your WiFi as an access point. It also has 3 separate network SSIDs, so you can set from 1 to 3 different WiFi networks, making each either open or password protected, able to access printers and other network devices/or just use internet access. It was very easy to set up and configure.Buying them used here on Amazon makes these an incredible value. I paid $31 for one, $27 for a second. I'm using one at one location as the primary router, and a second at another location as an access point. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The web interface makes it very easy to set up.One note: if you buy a used router, you may need to push and hold the reset button for around 10 seconds until the front light flashes and resets. One of these had the previous user's configuration and was password protected so I could not configure it until I reset the router to its original state.

no GUI access when you follow instructions. tech support cant help
No GUI access day after setup. Instructions say connect by wi-fi or wan port to access GUI. This works fine for first setup...Day after no access and tech support won't tell you only access is thru LAN ethernet ports. When you finally discover this, Enable GUI access for the Guest Wi-Fi and the main wi-fi will allow GUI access. Main Wi-Fi has no enable/disable GUI access switch. Only the guest wifi has this switch. Otherwise a FAST powerfull feature rich access point.

Easy to install OpenWRT on this thing!
Received unit not in a factory default state, which is to be expected. I just needed to hold down the reset button for a few seconds to make it brand new again.I was then able to connect to the unit and flash openWRT with no problem. Only took a few seconds.I am using this device as a "dumb ap", basically turning it into a 3-port switch with a WiFi antenna attached, using my ISP-supplied router as a gateway to the internet. In this capacity, it works great.Physically, the unit is in great shape. Not 100% factory new looking, but close to it. Unit came with a/c adapter and patch cable in what appears to be original carton packaging. All in all, i'm very pleased with this affordable AP, and very pleased with openWRT!
