Have had SO many different toppers, but THIS one is Quality!
Obviously I will update if anything changes over time, but this "ViscoSoft 3.5 lbs. Density 3-Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper (Queen) – Includes Ultra Soft Removable Cover" right off the bat seems a lot better quality than the many I've purchased in the past, including the highly -reviewed NovaForm one from C O S T C O that ended up being a dud after seeming great for a brief time. This one I feel is different because it is so much heavier of a weight and doesn't stay indented like the others. It's hard to explain, but it is soft without sinking in to it. We have a Serta pillowtop mattress that failed and sunk in the middle after only a few months of bliss. ALL mattresses are horrible quality these days, regardless of brands or reviews and there is nothing changing, so we had to get creative with toppers, which led us to the long road to this one. My husband wants a firm mattress & I can't sleep on firm & we both have neck & back issues. THIS topper seems strangely suited to both of us.I watched their video (which, GREAT job by the guy talking about it, very interesting) was informative & like all of the unique traits. I will without fail change this review if anything changes because the whole bedding situation in this country (and lack of quality or workmanship) is my pet peeve & am tired of being scammed. I do not believe this will be the case here, because there does seem to be pride in workmanship.UPDATE 3/02/21: We recently stopped using the one we had but will now likely buy another of this same one. We have found that ALL memory foam degrades (not something you'll see, but you'll feel it in body aches), though most are 6months to a year before you start feeling the effects, this one happens to have lasted longer. Another thing we have recently done is watch videos on You tube re: removing the innards of our regular mattress with springs (they say the problem is almost NEVER the springs, it's the memory foam layers) and replaced it with a "Sleep On Latex" (great company/website btw, not the one used in the videos) medium firm 3" LATEX pad, enclosed with a mattress case, then got another latex topper to actually use as a topper (this one in the SOFTEST rating (which is NOT soft when you are talking latex, trust me, get the soft for one on top). This will be a lifetime mattress set-up that solves the no good premade mattress at any cost anymore problem. Being the "Princess & the Pea" that I am, I still prefer to have this memory foam topper on top AS WELL, but unfortunately it will just need to be swapped out every couple years for new (while the latex ones remain a stabile foundation). Anyway this is a great topper that should at least give you a few years of great rest. The old one will go on a rarely used guest bed.***UPDATE 12/3/22 Rotation/turning 180 degrees worked! The second one lives on (and I now realize I prob could have been doing this with the first one)UPDATE 11/25/22: Starting to get those familiar body aches a year & a half into the 2nd order of this, which is a frustrating but unfortunately expected part of this process, and much longer than any other brand in the past. What I am going to try this time is rotating the pad. If that doesn't work, we will swap the newer one for the original (currently on unused bed). If that doesn't work, we will reluctantly come back for a 3rd (it really is the only option out there anymore, and this is definitely the best choice vs the ones that degrade at the 6 mo point). (re: 2nd purchase)UPDATE 4/16/19: STILL Great! (re: original purchase)UPDATE 12/09/18: 5mos in & nothing changed! :) (re: original purchase)UPDATE 10/19/18: 3months later STILL loving! :) (re:original purchase)

Do it!
So far so good!Comfort: I haven’t slept comfortably in months, and last night on this was a game changer. I was skeptical because it seemed softer than expected. Felt like sleeping beauty waking up after a long sleep. I am a side sleeper, and back sleeper primarily. I have shoulder pain and lower back pain. My body feels rested and restored from just one night. Also, the protector is so comfortable and sleeping alone on that felt wonderful. Too bad I’ll have to cover it with another protector and sheets. Wish it was a waterproof cover.Smell: It does have a smell upon receiving. It’s not that bad. I unboxed my topper at 11:00 in the morning and went to bed at 9:00pm. I placed it on top of my mattress but didn’t make my bed with linens— didn’t want to wait the 24-48 hours as recommended. The smell was tolerable when I went to bed, and when I woke up couldn’t smell it anymore. I am super sensitive to scents and had a non-related headache when I went to bed—woke up headache free so that’s a plus! Looking forward to tonight once it has had more time to completely expand/off-gas, if it hasn’t already.Size: It is true to size with my Serta Plush queen mattress.I 100% recommend this for now. Will have to rate durability at a later time.

Comfy & Eased Body Aches
7 months ago I purchased a new hybrid medium firm mattress (no box spring needed) to replace an old traditional mattress and box spring. New mattress is comfortable enough but I was waking up with lower back pain and eventually a sciatica flare up. I wasn't up to purchasing another mattress so soon and figured I would give this mattress topper a try. It's been almost a week and I like the comfort/contouring of this topper very much! I've slept well on it from day one. My sciatica hasn't bothered me, I still feel a bit of lower back pain but nothing like what it was before the topper. It has stayed in place and hasn't moved a bit. The odor is finally lessening, so that did take a few days. I haven't been sleeping hot but not really cool either, for me it seems like a good moderate temp. Another plus, it raised my 12 inch mattress and I like that the bed now sits higher, fitted sheet fits fine over mattress and topper too. Time will tell the longevity of this topper but it was a good option for now, especially with the sale price. I have no regrets, pain has lessened, and I am sleeping comfortably.Edit to add, I've been sleeping on this topper for 3 weeks now and have noticed my lower back pain lessening every morning. Today I woke up to no back pain for the first time in a very long time. I believe it's because of this topper since it's the only change I have made. Feels great to wake up pain free!

Customer Service Slow to Respond
Product appears ok after a few days use, however the strap that holds the mattress topper in place broke (was not sown properly) when I put it on the mattress. The 800 number for the company disconnects and the only response from customer service e mail is asking for the order number. I have a home sewing machine but the topper is too big and heavy for me to repair the strap that was not stitched properly in the first place. Customer Service has not replied to my request as to how to repair the strap. 6/27/25 The process was slow, but yesterday a replacement cover was delivered to me. I believe this company is reliable as long as you are patient with the process.

A perfect amount of softness to give proper back support
I second all the other positive reviews. We've had the topper for about five days and we love it. For me, at 140 lbs spread along a 5'10" body (not a very heavy torso), the topper is soft enough to let me sink in just enough to properly support my lower back. My husband, at 18 lbs heavier, also feels a similar amount of support (he doesn't sink too much). We found that putting a mattress pad on top of the topper reduces its resiliency, so we just put the bottom sheet directly on it.
