stiff until they get broken in.
They are real stiff at first but after about 60,000 steps start to loosen up.

Excellent boots - Confort, Soft y watheresistant
I imagined more rigid and heavier boots... but these boots are light, comfortable and I like the quality, they look beautiful, the material is resistant, the sole does not wear out quickly, they fit my foot and I walk a lot and these boots are my favourites.

This package delivery driver is impressed with initial comfort, feel, and support.
I work for a place where I wear brown and bring people/businesses packages. At this point I have had them for about a week (will update at 3 and 6 months). They are just breaking in, have held up to a lot of the regular abuse and miles I put on footwear, and still look new. My last pair of boots were made in the USA Danner hiking boots that lasted 2+ years but cost well over 4 times what these did and a pair of Sketchers that lasted about 6 months. Before that I had Dr. Martins steel toe boots (3&1/2 years, but these were some of the last ones made in the UK). I have bought Nike, Timberland, as well as various other name and lesser known brands. I'm very accustomed to all price points and construction/materials available. This is, however, my first pair with anything other than a solid leather upper.Fit: comfortable and supportiveStyle: meets the rigorous (if not sometimes arbitrary) guidelines set by my company. I have also worn them to a casual dinner and have received compliments.Durability: ExcellentSole/insole: I probably need a custom insole but most people would not.Laces: Light weight and they stay tied easily. This is actually my favorite part so far. Struggling with heavy laces or laces that refuse to stay tied has ruined my experience with otherwise great boots.Ease of use: Easy! Some may laugh initially, but there are few things more frustrating than having to go through a tedious lacing/unlacing every morning/evening. Speed laces are one way around this issue, but this boot is easy to get into and out of without laces that hang everywhere or the need to play a cracker barrel string puzzle twice a day.Feel/overall comfort: Wonderful! This boot has made me a convert to lightweight footwear. They feel great, even at this break in stage, and I have been really impressed with the high ankle support/feel.Cons: To Be Determined... Nothing stands out as anything but what I want/expect a good work boot to be. If this boot makes it through to 2019 I will consider them an amazing value, given what I require of them. I will also order multiple pair to put in my closet so I can guarantee I'll have them for years to come.3 month update: I'm still very impressed with these boots. I have not actively maintained them at all, but they still fit and function perfectly. The soles have not worn down quickly as some others suggested; in fact, if these boots continue to wear at this rate (upper and lower), they may make it all the way through my busy season. I don't think it's fair to expect that much out of a boot in this price range, but I'm starting to believe it is possible.Still five stars!Update: 9 monthsStarting to show slight sole wear; however, I can't overstate how impressed I am given my daily use at work and sometimes after work.Wear to the structure of the boot overall is what I would expect after 3 months and it has been 9 months! At this rate they will make it a full year. I will be purchasing a replacement/back up pair because it's to good a product/value not to.

Decent boots. Price can vary from size and time of purchase
First, when purchasing shoes I am VERY difficult. The slightest things bother me and buying shoes can be an ordeal. But I know my size is 10.5 extra wide. Shoes that are sized properly will fit.... and these do.These will be my fall/winter boots. Though advertised as "light weight" which they are, they are too warm for the warm months. But we're in October, so I'm good. They will take some breaking in and lucky for me they don't have high arch supports. I need support more toward the center of my foot toward the ball, not at the arch. So any additional support in that area can be increased with a few small pieces of gaffers tape of some of my existing orthotics/foot supports. Like I said... I'm fussy.I haven't had them in the wet yet, still in the breaking in phase, but I think they'll break in nicely and hopefully will stay dry through the winter's puddles and slush.Ahh... Price...??? This was an interesting purchase. Something in the order switched my original order at one size and one price and one vendor with another size, vendor and price- and delivery schedule. How that happened I have no clue. There are several sellers that offer this boot at various prices. Fortunately Amazon stepped up and corrected the error. Just make sure you confirm the purchase to verify size, price and anticipated delivery so you don't have to bother the Amazon reps. Otherwise I have nothing but good things to say about these boots.

Good shoe
I returned this due to erroneous listingI have nerve damage to my hand and laces are difficult for meI thought these had side zippersI have a taller version as well that are exactly the same except for height but with the zipperThey are almost perfect but I need a lighter pair so I highly recommend these if you want ankle height and qualityThe inserts are replaceable so adding orthotic inserts should you need them is easy

All Bates Boots Don't Fit the Same
This boot fits larger than some other Bates boots, so I had to return it. The length is fine but the volume of the boot is too large, even with orthotics placed inside. I purchased medium width, so a wide width would likely be worse.

Comfy and lightweight.
2nd pair of these. Last pair only replace as the soles had worn through after 3 years of daily use. Comfy, lightweight and durable. Much better than magnums

Great boots, strongly recommended.
I bought these boots after I’d done a bit of research and found out these are the ones the guy who stunt doubles for daredevil and captain America wears, and I figured that if he can do all that flashy stuff wearing them then they should be good for anything I want.I liked them enough to now be on my second pair, and I was inspired to write a review after I did some night hiking in them. During this I got across a stream in spring flood, by torchlight, stepping from rick to rock, without once slipping or even getting my feet wet. Great boots, and excellent for the price - I used to wear Oakley assault boots which cost twice as much and weren’t close to being this good or sturdy. Strong recommend from me.
