Perfect for yeast starters
Bought this specifically for making yeast starters and it doesn't disappoint. I'd read the reviews on this and many other stir plates, this one came out well and was a competitive price too. My only minor gripe is the instructions. There's not much you need to know about setting this thing up and getting it running, but the included 'pamphlet' was quite poor.

works for water and light oil
Seems to work fine with about 2L 50:50 mix of very light oil and waterGetting a good vortex in the water layer and some emulsification but going to try a bigger spinner to see if I can get vortex properly into the oil.I cant say I love the rpm control.You set a value and then you have to come out of setting mode before the motor changes speed. I would have preferred that changing the value immediately changed the speedAlso it takes ages to spin the control up to the higher values. Its all digital so there are lots of ways this could be improved.

Excellent piece of kit for mixing my marine aquarium additives. Paired with DURAN PYREX bottles 1000m, reagents can be mixed in the bottles easily and used as and when much cheaper than the ready mixed options.

Not as advertised. I thought I was buying a plate that heated up and shook. It only is a magnetic stirring set up. Not heat and stir. It's great if that what you want. Me I have to try and return it now. Took long to get here now I have to send it back
