Other than that installation was easy.
My GL 1000 starts easier and runs a lot smoother. The only problem was I had to make a bracket to mount the supplied ballast resistor. Other than that installation was easy.

1976 Honda gl1000 pacemaker.
I have a 1976 GL1000. I had done many things to the bike to get it to run perfect, or at least to as perfect as I could, to how it should have run 38 years ago. It ran fine once it had warmed up to operating condition, but it would take around 15 minutes of warm up, half of that on full choke and the other half me babying the throttle. I had installed new points and condenser 6 months earlier and had set the timing perfectly according to the manual, put new trimming belts, adjusted the valves, put new iridium spark plugs and synced the carbs.All that worked great, but when I finally relented and purchased and installed and set the timing on the Dyna s, the change was immediate. As I did the static timing I noticed that the test lamp would stay on longer while rotating the crank shaft, and as soon as I started the bike I had drastically back off the idle screw. The bike now is ready to ride 2 minutes after a cold start up, and can idle easily at 700 rpm while warming up and idle evens out at 1000 rpm when warm (I know according to the manual it should idle at 950 but I like how it sounds better at 1000).Now the bike is a get on and ride bike. I highly recommend the Dyna S to anyone who has a bike with points.

It took longer to get to me than scheduled but other than that I didn't need the part once I got it, but I would order again.

if you are reading this... just click buy it now. this and upgraded coils absolutely changed my 78 gl1000, and will thus forth be one of the first purchases i make for old points bikes. i hear stories about how hard it is to set up the timing... its not. i had it wired in probably 20 minutes, and timed in another 15. easy peazy. i love it i cant say enough good things about it

Exactly what I needed for my GL1000
Bought this for my 1978 Honda Goldwing (GL1000). Got rid of the point system and replaced with this. Was a bit of a pain to set-up, and I need to replace my screws in the points housing to make the system fit. Once it was set-up the system has worked beautifully. I am seeing better fuel economy as well as more performance. I would recommend this system for anyone with an old bike.
