Good Performance, but a bit Fragile
I have been using it for only a week or so and so far - so good. It's of a convenient capacity for one or two mugs of coffee and produces good results - no large grounds pass the filter, leaving only a very small amount of "fines" to sneak through, as with pretty much any French press system. The design and construction are very basic - a beaker with molded-in glass handle; a separate rubber base; and the filter system, consisting of the filter screen with attached stem and lid. The stem is long enough to allow the filter screen to compress the grounds, leaving no puddle of unfiltered coffee below the screen which is better than the common practice of leaving about an inch of space at the bottom when the filter is pressed all the way down.I have deducted one star because of the perceived fragility of the unprotected beaker and handle. If the glass is truly borosilicate, it should be pretty tolerant of rapid changes in temperature, which has been an issue with some other brands of coffee makers. The trade-off is somewhat lower physical shock strength, compared to soda-lime glass. Bottom line: avoid banging it against hard objects.

Not built for regular use...
I have found that many of the French press units out there are relatively small for a coffee drinker in Seattle. I purchased this unit formits size, and that is one feature that I could appreciate. The glass is thin, meaning that any drop or hard set-down could break it. The filter and cap unit doesn't align with the pour, and will freely rotate when pressing or pouring. The length of the filter rod is also short, leaving the "best" coffee in the bottom. One last negative point, the bottom is a loose fitting soft rubber piece, that is not very tightly attached to the glass. Today, I went to put the unit in the dish washer for a good cleaning, and as I was holding the glass over the partially full rack, I found myself holding the unit by the rubber, and... The bottom came off, and the glass shattered. The drop was about 10 inches. I will not be re-purchasing this press.

Quality, and microwaveable!
Great product. I bought this specifically because the body does not have any metal, so it can be microwaved. I use it to heat and foam milk in the mornings for fake cappucinos and it works great. The graduations also let me measure my milk very easily. The plunger on this is high quality, disassembles easily, and plunges all the way to the bottom. The removable rubber base means this is 100% cleanable, nothing will ever get stuck in the cracks where you can't get at it!Glass seems strong enough, I've had this for a few months and while I worry about breaking it, it's doing fine.
