Globi and energy : Globi's journey into the future of energy

A guide to energy production and use for children
The idea of this book is excellent. We should all be aware and thinking about the planets future resulting from climate change. Introducing this to children is essential if we are going to save our planet, to make them think about things they are doing and how it impacts their future. The story follows Globi and his 2 friends as they go on an adventure to find out about energy. It explains very simply the history of energy and what has happened to the earth as a result of us using this energy. It then goes on to explain new ways, both good and bad, that we can use to get energy in the future. The book is written in easy language with lots of pictures to keep the attention of children. It covers all the main points of climate change with easy to understand examples.I asked an 8year old to read it. She really enjoyed the first half of the book and it held her attention. But after half way she lost interest in it as there was too much information. She really liked the lists of important information and the colourful pages. She loved the pull out centre pages and all the information on them. Some pages were slightly too wordy for her.Although the target audience is children 8+, I feel that it is more suitable for slightly older children and adults would find it interesting too.

A fantastic journey from the mistakes of our past to the possibilities of tomorrow.
Join bird child Globi and his 2 refugee friends, Tara and Eneri, as they go on an amazing adventure to learn all about energy. It starts off explaining the basics, what is energy and why do we need it, before exploring how we've historically found methods of extracting and using fuel resources and what the consequences of the decisions that we've made along the way are, especially for his new friends.Thankfully, it's not all bad news as Globi finds out about alternate energy sources and carbon neutrality. It's not all good news either as he learns about the issues with nuclear energy but eventually comes to understand that carbon neutrality is possible. It's really a rather wonderful book which takes on a lot of apparently difficult concepts and simplifies them without becoming patronising. There's illustrations all the way through to break up the flow of information.I'd recommend this to curious pre-teens with a thirst for knowledge about what's going on with their environment who need to understand that all news doesn't need to be bad news.

Easy to understand explanation of energy and how using fossil fuels contributes to global warming
It's an excellent explanation of the entire concept of energy and energy conversion - not only for kids. I read the german version with great interest and entertainment and like this english version just as much. The combination of cartoons and facts is very appealing. We use the book at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in our InspirING® activities in schools trying to generate interest for science and technology. A big thank you to Atlant Bieri for writing the book and to Daniel Müller for the intelligent illustrations.

An educational, colourful and fun book
Lovely, educational hard back book which arrived within days of being ordered. My children and I loved the diverse range of characters in this book - informative facts are presented in a colourful way. Some of the illustrations are a bit unusual but it’s great to use characters to convey more complicated concepts as they have here. A wide variety of environmental issues and themes are covered by the writers of the book. Occasionally the language can be overly wordy, but perhaps this reflects the original German text.

Very educational and entertaining
I bought this book a week ago, it arrived fast and perfectly wrapped. The book is very entertaining and very educational at the same time. I loved it!I strongly recommend this book, not only for children, but for adults too.The only two things I don't like as much as the rest, is the format size of the book (it's quite tall and tight) to fit in some shelves), and I find the main character illustration a bit weird. However, these are just small details that don't even affect my rate on this product.

Great present
I bought this book as a recommendation for my friend‘s daughter as a present. The hardcover version feels very high quality with excellent colours and great print. My friend’s daughter was impressed by the book and how it explains grownups’ themes that she heard about from TV using illustrations in an easy to understand manner. Delivery was quick and packaging adequate.

Nice book
An educational book that explains, in a didactic and fun way, the phenomenon of global warming. Very important to make children aware of this phenomenon from an early age, and for future generations to give preference to sustainable alternatives. Very good book.
