The nipple that is provided is not a standard 1/2 tapered pipe thread. The end that goes into the wall is similar to 1/2" pipe thread but is not tapered. Might work, but would not thread very far into the female pipe fitting inside the wall. Also not long enough to reach the wall plumbing given 1/2" of tile backer board and 1/2" of tile and thinset. The other end of the nipple is a smaller diameter with an o-ring seal. Because of this, you cannot substitute a different length nipple. This renders the part useless unless your rough-in is set at exactly the right depth.

The threaded stem that goes into the wall is extra long and worked perfectly for pipes that may be farther back from tiles than desired.

Either the chrome was added after the threads were cut or it is a Chinese size. Would not screw in. Had to return.

Does not have standard NPT tapered threads used in the US for plumbing, so the part is useless. Returning.
