on-off flutter and tank fails to supply water consistently
I actually like this unit generally, but it has some engineering problems. There was a prior review by MDThurston, and I have the same two exact problems. The vendor (Allergy Buyers Group) is great and stands behind their sales, and even sent me a new machine because of the problems I'm about to describe. However, the second replacement machine still has the same second problem, as follows. But first, when the machine reaches the set humidity level, it just 'flutters" between on and off, usually for about a second less. You can hear the blower motor turning on and off. Although fairly quite, this is annoying at night when trying to sleep. This must be a basic design flaw. Most such machines are designed with "hysteresis" which is an EE term. For example, when a heater reaches a set temperature if say, 85 degrees, it turns off. It then waits until the temp decreases to say, 83 degrees before turning back on again. This avoids the on-off flutter at the exact set temperature. Apparently, this particular model is not designed that way, which is clearly a design flaw. Second, more than occasionally, the tank fails to release water into the basin. The misting continues until all of the water is gone and as intended, the machine shuts off for lack of water. A simple jiggle of the tank then releases water from the tank into the basin, and it continues to function. This happens about once or twice a day. I sort of fixed this by removing the bead-filled canister (helps with mineral mist) from the screw cap. Somehow, the cap/canister combination doesn't allow water to properly exit the tank. You can also play with the spring-loaded cap. But again, I stress that the vendor for the machine I bought, Allergy Buyer's Group, is a really good company. When they send me the second machine for free, they said I could keep the first machine. This is really a PowerPure issue.

Quiet, big, cool steam, energy efficient.
Especially in the winter, this has been a life saver. It stores enough water for at least a full day and is really whisper quiet while it's running. It's cool mist coming out instead of steam, which is great when there are kids around. I measured this with my electric meter and it costs about $2.50 in electricity to run it nonstop for a month versus much higher for machines that turn the water to steam. Highly recommend.

Otherwise a great humidifier - quiet and worked very well
Messy filling, reservoir and screen lights very bright - disruptive at night. Otherwise a great humidifier - quiet and worked very well.

Worked when it worked.
This is an older review. I had made some minor, some major, and some imo adjustments since. BUT, after a lengthy rewrite session a devious litl poodle (not mine!) snuck a paw across the screen of my phone and deleted all of my hard work. I will try to get it retyped again soon.MThe GOODS:• Looks great• Compact unit performs big• Enough features to tackle everything• Cool little remoteThe BADS:• Filling the tank is difficult - slippery tohandle especially after filling - could useindented handlesThat's really all I don't like about this humidifier, besides the price. The low rating is the result of problems I encountered over the week I tried use it.You can set the humidity % to the level you want the room to reach. When the unit reaches the % it shuts off. Or, in my case, switches off then switches back on. Switches off again and switches back on. Juggling the % by one number, like it was confused on whether it was 44% or 45% humidity. Probably wouldn't make too much out of this except it "CLICKS" every time it switches.Problem two. The "water low" alarm would go off randomly. If I lifted the tank off a little and set it back down the alarm would stop...for a while. A few days after having it set up and trying it out the alarm wouldn't stop no matter what I tried. Everything looked ok to me?? I wiped it out and nothing was obstructed or broken.Sending back for refund, will update aftercustomer service contacts me.
