A bit pricey but It works as advertised.
All my fish died during a spring algae bloom and I couldn’t replenish until I solve the water quality issue. After resolving the algae problem, It took almost two weeks for the filter to clear a very murky/cloudy 8000 gal pond. You need to be patient and clean the filter every couple of days. After the pond begins to clear, you can reduce the frequency of cleaning. After two months, I am only cleaning the filter once a week. I’ll reduce this frequency even further until I reach a balance point. Once the pond cleared (it is now crystal clear even at 3’ depth!) I added some feeder goldfish (~120) and they love the pond. I am confident enough in the water quality that I am contemplating the addition of expensive koi fish which is my ultimate goal.

This thing is amazing..
Ok.. sooo..I’m not one to write reviews, but felt obligated to write this one.. I have about a 4-5000 gallon pond with right now 17 adult koi and another 17 2 year old babies. To say the least water gets tainted on a daily basis.. changed out a useless 5 year old filter names not to mention and installed this one in an hour.. in 5 days it went from literally a cesspool where I Cdnt see my fish to crystal clear.. I’m soo impressed.. fish are sooo much more relaxed and happy now.. I stressed over soo many different filters to make sure I was picking the right one.. was Leary about the cost but bottom line is a lil costly but worth every penny..havnt seen my water so clear since I built it 7 years ago..

Potentially a great filter ruined by poor quality fittings.
The media could not be loaded. This is phase one of my review:*installing in Phoenix, Arizona in partial shade on the north side of a wall to filter a small, 800 gallon, koi holding tank using 2 inch PVC1. I could tell the fittings were cheap from the start based on the flimsy feel of the plastic. Then I discovered the dimensions are off by a little with both the barb and quick-couple fittings being slightly loose in standard 2 inch PVC. That said, I didn't expect the fittings to melt at 130 degrees. I elected to use the quick-couple fittings after I was unable to get the flex PVC I purchased to stay attached to the barb fittings (note: the flex PVC stays perfectly attached to other barb fittings I purchased separately). While installing the filter on a mildly hot day in Phoenix, AZ (temperature just shy of 100 F), the quick connect fitting became soft (at a surface temperature of approximately 130 F), deformed, and popped apart. I know the manual instructs users not to leave the filter exposed to weather, but one should at least have time to assemble the unit before it becomes a molten pile of plastic. I could, literally, form the shape of the fittings with my fingers. The photos above are of me/gently/ squeezing the fittings. I'm not Superman, I did not over-torque the fittings with a wrench. They were that soft. I have zero confidence in the ability of those fittings to hold together under pressure and not dump the contents of my koi pond, minus the fish left to fry alive in the empty pond, on the ground.I have no idea, yet, as to the filter's filtering capabilities because I didn't even get it assembled before the fittings fell apart. I can say that I have reservations as it's only filtering media is foam (no ceramic or plastic bio media, no charcoal, no anything other than foam), but I knew that going in and other pressure filters use a single type of media (usually plastic bio media), and nothing else, so...The verdict is still out. We'll see if it's worth $600+ or not... maybe... if I decide to keep this thing and use pool fittings to fix it.Or maybe I'll try to return it and step up to a real koi pond filter.

Very difficult
After much difficulty installing because my waterfall is in two parts I find that I don't have the strength to pull the handle for backwashing. I still need to have someone come to backwash!

Best filter I've had.
Cleared water up nicely. Pond is in full sun and green water was a problem. Between the multi layered filter and 55watt uv, the water is clear. I do recommend a skimmer with a filter pad to catch the dead algae. My skimmer pad is clogged on a daily basis with dead algae, but my water looks great. Pond is approximately 2000 gallons, a bit overstocked due to reproduction, in full sun and this filter works for me.

Clear Water!
After trying to keep my pond clear for two summers with a filter and UV light, installed this Oase. Water was murky both brown and green floating miniscules in the water (approximately 2800 gallons). Literally 15 hours later, the water was clear down to the bottom (3 feet). Yesterday, I could see approximately 12 inches deep in the pond before murk obscured vision. Now, every detail of the bottom is clear. I look forward to keeping a clear pond now! The fish and frogs love it. Thank you, Oase!

German Engineered POS
If you're a MASOCHIST, this product is for YOU!!!The filter will filter, but requires TOO MUCH maintenance every 2-3 days.Back-wash and filter-press features are TOTAL failures as they DO NOT clean the filters. Product is not economically feasible in drought-stricken areas!!!$750 for the Oase FiltoClear 8000, and days of retro-fitting and installation, and hundreds of more dollars WASTED!Our pond is 2500 gallons.
