First tried this number about 6-7 years ago in Belize. Quick story...Hired a local guide. I wanted one of those BIG Tarpon that were there at the time. Well, apparently he and the ONLY person that owned a cast net in that part of the country, got into a little tiff the previous evening (over a pool game if I recall). We motor up to his buddy's dock - and he sicked his dogs on us!Guess he was still upset. So, no cast net. Guide only took clients for tarpon when he had live bait, because, he said, "Without live bait you get nadda". Well, I proceeded to pull out my Spit'N image (freshwater version) that I brought just for fun. On a rod/reel/line rig that was too big for it.The "Tarpon Torpedo's" were all around us. The guide seemed annoyed that this silly client was trying to catch one on this little bitty piece of high-tech plastic & metal. He humored me, all the while subtly shaking his head. He let me have at it, I suppose, cuzz I was paying for the day. Third cast and, BAM! - an eighty-pounder inhales it.I mean; it's a wounded freakin' bait-fish. Uh, yeah. Third jump and the lure flew back at us, with [slightly] straightened hooks. The guide was amazed. I said, "Here, you can have this lure. But put heavier hooks on it". Fast-forward to, oh, about, yesterday morning...The trout (speckled seatrout) top-water bite was ON! So, I decided to experiment. This was after hooking several, and a fat 23 incher, on the Spit'n image, seemingly every third cast, for about 45 minutes.I've always kinda figure that, when they are hitting on the top, they'll hit anything. Probably true. Mostly. The three other kinds of baits were: plastic minnow-like thingy (think Bass Assassin, but not that brand) with only a hook; another "walk-the-dog" lure from this same company (it works for me fairly well too); and a new-ish "airy"-type plastic. Caught only one fish using those three (slot, barely), after about 30 minutes. The Spit'n Image went back on. And I caught two more - immediately! Then work got in the way (why is that?).The Spit'N image won the day. Sure, not scientific. But, you can have my Spit'N Image with you pry it from more cold, dead, fingers.Good FishingEdit: I forgot - about two months ago I had an EPIC top-water day with this lure also. Three 24" trout, in a row (if I recall correctly, all from same 2-square acre spot). They would hit other stuff that day but, well, I wasn't experimenting much on that trip. Three, two-footers, in one day, is a personal best for me. Other smaller ones too.

Believe the HYPE, if you don't BELIEVE THE PICTURES!!!
These lures are the BEST I've ever used!!! I got one, oh probably 3 yrs ago, and I never used it. This summer I was out late in July (PA), and I was having a slow day (not even a hit) and thought I'm going to try something I never used. So I dug into my tackle box and grabbed this guy. Well about 3 casts later I had a hit, and 2 or 3 after that I caught a 12' bass. Well I was hooked after that. I was out all day, and just before packing it in I tried this guy and got a fish. After that it was on. I started using it much more and started catching a ton of Bass, after it started getting colder I started catching Northern Pike on this guy. When those guys hit it they engulf it. It's CRAZY!!! That is why I'm here. I actually bought 3 of these, 1 in the Threadfin Shad (which is what I have), and 2 in the Gizzard shad. Mine is so beat up it's missing an eye, the paint is all worn off, and it's still crushing pike. I figure I will use the beat up one on Pike, and use the newer ones when the bass are hitting. I added some pics and these are all fish caught on this lure. If you don't have one of these, BUY 2! Because after you start using it, you will be glad you did. You'll have a spare for when the fish abuse it, or if you lose one in a tree (you all know how that goes). By the way, I'm not complaining about the lure being beat up. FAR FROM IT. It was actually very well made, and the bass barely put a dent in it, but I've not gotten so many pike that it's just beat up. If you never caught a Northern Pike they are VERY AGGRESSIVE. These fish come completely out of the water (full body) to attack this guy. I don't know how many times I've jumped when they crush this lure. The spit n image at this point is my ALL TIME favorite lure AND I ONLY STARTED USING IT!!!! IT'S CRAZY!!! Guys believe the hype on this lure, believe the reviews and if you don't believe those, look at the pics and you WILL BE A BELIEVER.

My favorite walking style bait ever
My favorite walking style bait ever. The hooks are junk, you will want to change those suckers out but the bait has great moves when you walk the dog with it. It will jump out of the water and do a 180 landing facing backward relative the direction you are reeling... This makes the bass nuts! Great for schooling fish and as a search bait. Like most lure of this style it wont fare well if you have matted weeds but like I said, on large mouth or white bass or striped bass, this things is killer in open water on schooling fish.

Best top water ever!
Can't find them in stores anymore. Happy to find them here but they were twice the price I would normally pay. Still the best top water bait I have ever used!

Great Topwater Action
This thing has mind-boggling walk the dog action, equaled by only two other lures I know of. Shad/baitfish shape rather than minnow-like, high floater but rests at an angle, best in the more natural colors (like this one). Outstanding flash, with irridescent "scales" like those on real shad. I love working this puppy.

Best top water action!
This lure is the real deal. Best top water producer I fished in East Texas. Bass were sitting next to y’all grass at edge of lake. Hook ups were 85%. Toss and twitch. Not hits on retrieve were had.

Terrible Finish
These lures are pieces of junk! I doubt that Heddon are the ones who even make them? I had Weeds on my lure & slapped my lure off the top of the water (once) and the Finish came off. I reached for a second lure and hit some surface weeds did the same thing in the Finish came right off. I've been fishing for over 40 years and I have never seen a lure do this before? Especially something brand new.
