I couldn’t wait to get this in my shop. I started cutting right away. I have been practicing my hand cut dovetails and needed a better fret saw. This is perfect.Easy to cut with. Comfortable in my large hands and easy to maneuver. By my second batch i had it dialed in and was cutting away.

It works really well and the blades it comes with are pretty good but I bought it for jewelers saw blades and still works perfect. Its keeps the tension you need and its very comfortable to use

For fairness sake, I've used this saw for things it wasn't really designed for. I took it out of the box and straight away started shaping holes in sheet metal, including 3/16" steel. It got the job done about as good as I expected it. Would be better if I stuck to softer, thinner metals or plastics or wood, but I am not known for being easy on my tools when I have a job to do.My chief complaint, though, had nothing to do with the material. It's really difficult to get the saw blade seated correctly and clamped into its holders. There were several times I thought I had it, only for the blade to just come loose, usually ruining the blade. This happened on 1/2" plywood just as much as it did on metal.That said, once you do get that blade in correctly, the tension is fantastic. You have a nice straight wire that won't deform much as you make your cuts. You have good control over direction and can cut nice precise shapes. It's a bit fussy changing out blades, enough to make me thankful I don't do this kind of work very often, but once it gets going it is a quality tool.
